Look at how Utd have played things in the past. If you bear in mind that Villareal have no points and cant qualify then an away win there isnt a big ask. In fact the only trulyy competitive game may well be Naples where a draw might well be good enough.

It could also end up being a game that determines who finishes top. Not being a seasoned Champions League specialist I presume the top finisher gets the easier route after the league? MrRed
If anything i can see it as a game you might have to win while Napoli will have to beat Villarreal !
Abrak
I don't think Bayern will throw that game if there's a chance of knocking you out. Exactly smokes The fact is that sending a second string squad to what is a totally meaningless match to Bayern is not the same as 'throwing a game'. As Fergie pointed out in his team selection against Blackpool in the last match of last season. If you were a Bayern fan who was also keen to see their team win the Bundesliga, would you wish to risk injury to their key players if the club will still head the Group if they lose. Bo's optimistic scenario that the Bayern match might decide first and second in the Group assumes, at the very minimum that City beat Naples at their home ground. Clearly a possibility but Naples have not lost at home in European competition since they qualified in 2008. And the goal they let in against Bayern was their first at home in Europe in 7 games. So chances are not that good and I suspect City will go looking for a draw. (Threw in a stat there to keep Smokie happy.) I was going to also point out that Naples beat Inter Milan 3-0 in the league recently but I guess that doesnt mean much anymore?

Without it, I'd have been in a straight jacket years ago. They drive me <deleted> crazy.

The first 2 seasons of Naples in Europe was in the Europa Cup. Not really the same as the Champions League. They also lost to Parma last week or the week before. MrRed
How can you be charged with refusing to warm up?? And then cleared of refusing to play! City really are making hard work of it aren't they.

mrbojangles
How can you be charged with refusing to warm up?? And then cleared of refusing to play! Is it really that hard for you to understand? He wan't originally charged with refusing to warm up. It was dropped to this after hearing evidence from players and staff. You still have to act under instructions from the Manager, whether it be to warm up or go on and play. What do you think we should have done? The same as United did when Scholes refused to play? SantiSuk
If Carlos said 'por que' (why) perhaps Mancini thought he was referring to the fact he was putting on weight, so the Italian flicked his quiff and threw a wobbly. "You will-a nevurr work-a for me again-a". [spanish and Italian languages are not dissimilar and speakers of either supposedly can understand generally what the other is talking about. Mossfinn
How can you be charged with refusing to warm up?? And then cleared of refusing to play! City really are making hard work of it aren't they. I am not sure they are making hard work of it: In any Human Resource/Employment Law issue it can be a mine field and you have to follow the guidelines if not the law, it is quite clear now when the dust has settled Mancini at the time was a little emotional and claimed in his hyper active state, remember his team are two-nil down that Tevez refused to play. He didn't, he refused ( allegedly )to warm up, even this is a confused issue, all testimony point to him not refusing to play, which can only allow a much watered down charge of refusing to warm up. I can't see Mancini winning this through the channels, so an off load cheaply or serious loss of face and I can't see that happening. I can see a bargain out there, Tevez picking up further obscene wages and an other club picking up a problem, and further down the line, the break even figure of Problem/Payback will be decided.
