Manchester City have signed Spain forward Nolito from Celta Vigo after meeting his £13.8m release clause. The 29-year-old has signed a four-year contractNolito started all four of Spain's matches at Euro 2016 before they were knocked out in the last 16 by Italy.

Only seen him in the Euros and wasn't greatly impressed - wasn't impressed by Spain - but not expensive and will add competition to Navas and Sterling.

Apparently Pep wanted him as he played under him at Barca about 5 years ago and Pep considers him a "specialist" who knows his system. He didn't get his first international for Spain till he was 28 and isn't expected to be a regular starter due to Pep's rotational system.

Cheap as chips in todays market, so not too big a gamble I suppose.

Gundogan and Nolito combined cost City less than Mané cost Liverpool! Have we finally got some one who knows how to negotiate.

See Pep meets the fans tomorrow and finally joins us this week. Smart move living in the city centre area even if it's in sallyford; get his bearings quickly and find out what we're all about.

You really think that any agent selling to City would get hoodwinked, you're overpaying for anyone when you own 10% of the worlds oil reserves for a start

20m for the german international and 13m for the spanish international; seem like very good deals to me.

Pep Guardiola, for his official unveiling yesterday, pulled up at Citys training complex in a black cab.

City' staff left in Pep's office, gifts including a Manchester tart, Coronation Street box set, a guide to Manchester, a box of PG Tips and an umbrella embossed with his initials.

Nice.

Not the "tart" that hangs around the Corn Exchange every evening was it?

Thoroughly looking forward to see the purchases acquired by Pep and Jose as they launch their bid to buy the premier league next season.

Funny how these "geniuses" need so much money to confirm their greatness.

Think Klopp, Koeman and Poch might just show them up next season....lets hope. Last season did atleast show us that if you are tactically inept of have lousy man management skills then it can all go pear shaped despite the money.

Anyway, shaping up as i thought, Pep being the perfect gent and Mourinho being the self absorbed, self obsessed turd that he is. Hopefully with the attention on these two from the media the others, like last season will go under the radar again.

Manchester City make decision on Football League Trophy invitation

Manchester City have declined an invitation to take part in next season's English Football League Trophy.

But the Blues have indicated to the League that they may take part in future tournaments, if the domestic and international calendar allows.

City have become the latest Premier League club to turn down an invitation to field an under-21 team in the competition, previously known as the Johnstone's Paint Trophy but currently without a sponsor.

The club likes the idea of pitting their up-and-coming youngsters against seasoned professionals from Leagues One and Two. But the competition starts with groups, and the fixture dates coincide with international fixtures in September, October and November.
