City's owners inherited Mark Hughes. Where exactly were City when he was axed so the owner could bring in their own man - not doing well. Were any City fans unhappy about it; don't think so. Did City's owners act unprofessionally/badly? Not really except it was unfortunate that the news leaked out to Hughes that he was going to be axed. Hughes isn't a City legend by the way and naturally wasn't liked.

At least blue knows his team knows the score. A supporter not a bloody financial analyst like that joker in the arse hole of North london.

Still looks uncomfortable. Ducking and diving like he being shot at. Was a firm answer to his retirement question and was pretty convincing good dousing. Definitely got straightened out by upper management about the answers before hand. Will watch rest tomorrow Mrs giving me evils.

The announcement of PG last season so early took your rails off. Unfair to Manwell who showed true professionalism.

Not giving out birthday cards and cakes to key players.

Mark Hughes was not given a hope in hells chance and that would have been fitting. A utd legend ringing the changes in the city.

I could dig out a few more but this is all that comes to mind.

It's a hire and fire business Rc and if you don't produce, your out. We ain't done nothing different than any other club (except Arsenal in recent times) Mark Hughes was and still isn't, anything of a special manager. Every City fan thanks Mancini for what he did for us in ending 3 decades of misery but he had totally lost the dressing room and there is no room in this sport for keeping a Manager purely out of sentiment.

The timing of Pellegrini's announcement was his choice. Following Pep's announcement, he wanted it out in the open as he didn't want to be questioned and harassed about it every week. Hindsight tells us it was the wrong choice of timing and could have ben done better but I don't think the owners can be called unprofessional for that.

Maybe Hughes time to shine has passed but he has done some great work IMO and with lesser clubs than top 6. Maybe he was foolish to join city and should have gone to chelsea. His reputation from Blackburn was a manager on the Up and even now with Stoke he does a good job. He ain't too bad with signings either. Zab and vincent still going.

Be interested to know if Hughes identified Zaba and Kompany. He bought Kompany as a central midfield and didn't identify him better as centre back (Kompany was only tried there during an injury crisis).

Complete rubbish as usual lad :post-4641-1156693976:...He was starring for Belgium as far back as 2004....as a centre Back. Feel free to check transfrmarkt. The game against Germany confirms his starting position. He also joined Hamburg prior to City, to replace Van Buyten (who was another Centre Half)

Does not really matter the position they play. They were purchased by Mark Hughes who is pretty astute in the transfer market and continue to wear the shirt to this day. So some good decisions by Hughes at a time when the word transition was in full swing at MC.

What's going on BB you lost touch of the blue blood running through your veins?

Best read those programmes back to front again. Not to worry you only got 6 odd years to worry about. As pep said Way behind.

Our owners did give him some time and money...lots of it. He was already in position when they took over and  only finished 10th that year. It was the following season when we went on an awful run of about 7 draws in a row and only 2 wins in 11 matches when they got rid. Don't think many clubs would stick by a manager with those stats.

Yes Kompany was a centre back prior to joining City but Hughes bought him as a central midfielder (holding) for City (same as de Jong at the time). He was average there and de Jong was the better player in that position.

At least a season after joining us, we had an injury crisis/suspension (to probably Dunne and Richards, maybe Onuaha, who I think were our centre back pairing at the time) and Kompany was tried, was a success and has made that centre back position his own ever since.

Hughes joined City June 2008. Kompany joined City 22 August 2008. Zaba joined City 31 August 2008. The 2 players were bought under Hughes managerment (not Sven').

City's owners bought the club the day after Zaba signed (a well known fact boys). The owner's inherited Hughes.

Thank you!

Yeah Sven signed Elano. He also signed most noticeably Petrov (who I liked), Corluka, Bojinov, Garrido and Fernandes

Petrov missed a sitter at Stoke that would have kept Bolton in the PL. You and BB probably didn't notice at the time. You had other things on your mind.

"Pep Guardiola is hopeful of landing Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber on a six-month loan deal". Hoping this comes off.

Was watching vids of Gabriel Jesus before, looks interesting.

Seriously that lads done a dean Ashton.  Hope I'm wrong but chucking him in the mix should do wonders for team moral amongst the defenders. Desperate move.

Apparently Badstuber is injured about as often as Vinnie. I welcome reinforcements, but he better come cheap with that history.

So Hughes bought a Centre Back to play as a Def Mid when he already had De Jong, don't sound right to me.

Anyone got a link
