I'm very happy about Barry, excellent addition.

As for Tevez. Although he is a good player, I really don't know where he'll fit in. We have a bunch of short arse5 as is it, we need someone with a bit height. But hey, what do I know. :)

The one thing I can say about Mr Tevez, is unlike some of your other short fast guys (one comes to mind), he is none stop effort.

Let's not go there james. i assume you are talking about Robbie? He's done excellent for his first season in the EPL, or should we compare him to one of your players who you bought for almost the same money, who has had several seasons already in the premier league?

Hey I didnt bring this up, you said he didnt want him because too many short folk on your team. Berba didn't do all that was 'expected' true, but I am sure you would say the same with Robbie.

My beloved Wolves have our own poor arab, in Mr Morgan ( from the well known Islamic Republic of Liverpool ).

Question to you city boys................Do you really enjoy the money that much that you don't have in the quiet moments, just a hint of regret that you have sold your soul to the Middle East ? ( Can't say I'm all that happy we've sold ours to the NW of bloody england ).

Sits back, gets the Popcorn out & waits for the answers which i think may be a tad predictable... :)

Sorry, missed that post.

What a cr4ppy question. Go on the United and Liverpool threads and ask them about selling their souls to Yanks. Or Chelsea to the Russians, or Pompey to the Arabs or.....................the list can go on and on.

In short, if we want to compete, we needed to have more money than we had. There is not a JOT of regret in my blue blood. :)

Fairy nuff

My point of view a tad different, and before you say it, I know, completely outdated. My club to me should be a reflection of the community it serves and remain true to the history of it's glorious past. The taking over of the institutions that have ment so much to the average Brit by Johnny $%^& grates.

I personally had found these 'Citeh Boys' not a tad distasteful since those who should have known better never raised an eyebrow when they sold their soul to a renowned abuser of human rights in Thailand. Anything extra is but a further nail in the coffin of the Manchester City non-popularity stakes. Even those that would like to see a upheaval of the dominance of the top four in the Premiership - and think Manchester City a potential candidate for this - hope it only a temporary phenomenon , in the mould of Blackburn when they toppled the Manchester geographical rivals for the championship (with thanks to West Ham it should be noted) and have since struggled to even keep their place mid-table and worse. Hey, but shortsightedness has forever been the hallmark of unbridled and ugly capitalism as Manchester factory owners found out to their expense as far back as C19.

What a load of old <deleted>!!!!!!

What about your Icelandic crooks. Guomundssen :D

Convicted criminal, and suspected main player in the Icelandic Financial collapse :)

Whats up, you lot so jealous of our OIL wealth.

Football is football, politics is politics.

Nowadays most rich clubs have money injected from, shall we say, dubious sources.

I know he's got me on ignore so he won't read this & i am not one that sticks up for my Club or it's Owners blindly like many do but pleeeeeeaaaaaase, let's rewind a little or have you conveniently erased " Frank " from your memory already ???

It's a bit rich ( no pun intended :D ) your Post in my opinion especially for a Club that was ownder by your Man Frank for a Year or 2..

But if you are reading this, i for one am not or never will be jealous of another Club who have been taken over by people who could have taken over any number of Clubs, just because they have a lot of money...

You might be impressed, i <deleted> ain't though... :D

I hate the way City Fans are going & talking/writing these days, they were good for a laugh once ( well not J&D specifically ) but now they just go on about how rich they are & will be absolutely hated throughout the World by genuine Football Fans & that's sad in my opinon as they were overall a good bunch & one of the better sets of Supporters in the Country.. :D

Edit : & MrBJ, before you launch into a tirade against me, it's all true Mate ^^ & i think, with your blinded devotion to City aside, you might, just might know it deep down too.. :D

Lucas Neil, eh. You boys are verily amassing a right bunch of mercenaries. All that's needed now is to poach Alex Ferguson, to ensure that you've completely sold your soul for the fleeting vanity of success.

think barry has made himself look a right dick with this to be honest. champions league football wanted in a world cup year and he goes to city for double his money? just admit you're chasing the cash gaz lad, nobody will hold it against you. but don't try to pretend that it was a philosophical move.

On the other hand he realises he needs regular 1st team football in order to play in the world cup.

Maybe he felt he had a better chance at City than at Liverpool.

He was always going to leave Villa, been there for years, looking for another challenge. Subjectively I think he has made the right choice :D

Of course the money helps :)

he'd have played plenty of first team football at anfield, and would've played in the champions league proper too. but i can't say i'm surprised. just because a player comes across as a sensible and level-headed pro doesn't mean that they're not as vain and money-driven as the rest of their peers. i'd just prefer it if they were honest about it. 'i went there because i only have four years at the top left and i can double my retirement fund through this' or similar would be fair enough by me.

I could name plenty, but all outside of the Premiership. But that's not what you mean is it. Citeh are now equal to Chelsea , who as you know superceded Man u as the most despised team for the very reason that Citeh are now doing, excessively buying success. At least when Blackburn temporarily did the same , it was with money invested by a Blackburn supporter. Distasteful as it still was though.

You're just going to have to live with this. Once you were quit admired for your passion and living in the shadow of your rivals. But believe me when I say that the reverse is generally now the case and the attitude of your supporters has only gone to fuel the flames of this. As if that needed doing anyway, but I've read it elsewhere

wouldn't say that's true at all. chelsea and city just throw ludicrous amounts of money at greedy clubs and greedy players, haven't seen any evidence of the underhand tapping up employed by united over the years yet.

Give it time mate.

There have already been a few, shall we say, iffy deals - Jon Obi Mikel was one.

you can't complain about that one, united got 12m for doing nothing! :)

i suppose a few of chelsea's deals with russian clubs have stunk a bit, as did their paying stupid prices to porto for ferreira and carvalho as a way of compensating them for nicking mourinho. haven't seen anything from city yet really which marks them out as being anything other than absolutely stinking rich, perhaps garry cook's behaviour towards ac milan last season notwithstanding.

We've hardly spent anything in comparison to the the top 4. Wow, last year we bought Robinho for a huge amount but United bought Berbatov for almost the same and they had already spent fortunes in building their team. Robbie cost about as much as it cost United to renew Ronaldo's contract. All the other players, inluding Barry haven't exactly been huge sums of money in comparison to todays transfer fees.

you've paid over the odds for every signing you've made since the new owners came in. i'm not criticising city for doing it, just stating a fact.

And you didn't pay over the odds for Robbie Keane ? :) In 2007 didn't Liverpool spend about £50m on players ?

yeah we probably paid over the odds for keane but a chunk of that was premiership tax. you always pay more for established domestic players. and in 2007 we signed torres and mascherano which took up 38m of the budget, but since they're arguably the best players in the world in their positions, i'd say it was money well spent. the 11m we pissed away on ryan babel however was not.

i'm not having a pop here by the way, just stating a fact that city are paying over the odds for players because a] they can afford to and b] they have to to attract good players to make the jump from midtable to top bracket. just as chelsea did five years back.
