I have come to Thailand again about 20 days ago and have not been for a year , I'm thinking of staying for one more month can I go to the Bangkok migration office and pay 1900b to get a 30 day extension on my uk passport , I hear this is now possible or am I wrong and probably just get the seven day stamp to get out of the country

You can a apply for a 30 day extension of your 30 day visa exempt entry at immigration.

You will need a completed TM7 application form with a 4cm X 6cm photo attached, copy of your passport photo page, entry/permitted to stay stamp and TM6 departure card. Plus the 1900 baht fee.

Hi thanks for the quick reply i take the TM7 form you get at the Bangkok Imergration and is the TM6 form the one you have to fill in on the plane. sorry but never done this before

Yes and Yes.

The TM6 is the card you fill out on arrival and is then the departure part is stapled in your passport.

I just did this about a month ago. Go to the government building at Chaengwattana. Take the MRT or BTS to Chatuchak, then a taxi to the complex. (I spent 30 minutes wandering around before I found out I was on the wrong side of the building). Downstairs there are numerous shops that will take your photo and have TM7 forms for you to fill out. It costs 100 baht. I arrived at noon and immigration closes from noon to 1PM, so I went downstairs and had my photo taken and filled out a TM7. At about 12:45 I went to get in line and was about number 20. By 1 PM there were probably 50 people behind me. The lady that gives you a cue number will look over your form. On mine, she crossed out Bangkok as the arrival point and wrote "Suwannabhumi". (I lost my departure card and obtained a new one from Thai air in Silom a few days earlier. The "cue" lady caught that really quick, but I told her I lost it and it was no big deal). You will be given a ticket with a letter and a number. The letter has to do with what you are applying for, and the number is what number in line you are. When I was called, I was photographed with my glasses on and with them off. The immigration lady also wanted the name and room number of the hotel I was staying at, and my cell phone number. 1900 baht and 45 minutes later, I had a 30 day extension. There will be a whole line of taxis waiting at the entrance so it's easy to get back to where you are staying. (First post: 56 years young from USA).

So when you put down a reason for extension what did you put . I'm just thinking of saying I need more time to see other parts of Thailand and thanks to all for some really helpful replies

Tourism is the reason for your stay.

All sorted now thanks a lot to you all oh and met a few expats down there as well, but dam busy today as yesterday it was not open due to the public holiday, but back in hotel with feet up ready for a Friday night of fun

Hi All, Long time no contact. Back in the Kingdom on a 30 day visa exemption and want to apply for a 30 day extension as a tourist at Chiang Mai immigration. Is the information about the requirements on this forum still correct as i see the last post was October 2014.

But note that the Immigration office in Chiang Mai since July has been divided into two locations, with some services including tourist extensions being done at a new location at the Promenada shopping mall. You can no longer go to the old Immigration office close to the airport.

I have read on Chiang Mai Life that there is a shuttle from the old immigration office near the airport to the Promenada office, does anyone know if this still runs. The article said that it runs every 1/2 hour
