tourist conversion to uni ed extension of stay

Featured Replies

Hi

I am currently on a 30 day extension of a 60 day tourist visa which runs out 5 November 2014. My uni documents are running a bit slow and I understand you need 15 days remaining to convert to initial 90 day education extension of stay with 1.900

My question is if I have say 13 days remaining can I pay 1.900 to extend an extension by 7 days to make up to the required 15 days?

So if I have 13 days pay 1,900 to extend 7 more days and then 1,900 to convert to ed extension.

Any advice? Thanks. I did phone 1111 and she said she didn't know.

They have done it before with the 7 day extension but things may of changed. All you can do is try.

The rules now says that the 7-days extension is final.

You will need to leave county and get a non-imm 'ED' via in e.g, Laos.

Thanks for reply, however if I pay for a 7 day extension 'add on' that will put me above 15 days required to convert

What I am trying to tell you, is that with rules the 7 days extension is not allowed anymore to gain time, and you cannot do further applications after you have received it.

You are welcome to go check yourself at immigration and report here.

The rules do not say that. Those rules were not changed.

Only some immigration offices have set that as their policy,

Ubonjoe we had this discussion already. The new rules have removed the verbiage that was allowing further applications after a 7-days extension. The opening page on Immigration website says the same. If you allow I'll stay of my opinion that this is nationwide and by official rules.

I have until the 5th November

If I go tomorrow 22nd Will that count as 15 days ? The application day and the expiry day ? Thanks

15 days are needed for a conversion of tourist visa to non-imm visa, that cost Bt 2,000. However even if you are within the limit, it is done only on the basis that you have the required paperwork for the subsequent extension, since you said you don't have it yet I don't think you can apply.

Hi. I now have the uni paper work. Will try tomorrow. Last day is 5th Nov. The initial visa conversion is 2000 baht

Is that the total cost for initial 90 days?

Conversion is 2,000, extension 1,900.

Studying at public university you should be able to obtain 1 yr extension.
