Popular Post RottingCorpse
I don't know who the performers were, but please don't class it as 'Rock' as it was probably nothing of the sort. Still how sad....

NongKhaiKid
Unfortunately this is nothing new. About 15 years ago when working at a rural uni a Carabao Concert came to the municipality and some of my students planned to go. I was asked if I would like to go with them and since they were my favourite students I didn't want to say No but I did hiding behind excuses like having a low pain threshold so the noise would do me in, not being a night owl etc. Luckily they accepted, laughed at me and no one lost face. The day after the concert I asked how it went and the terror on the faces of a couple of the girls' faces was still there. All of them left the concert early feeling that trouble was brewing which it had been and resulted in a youth being stabbed to death.
Popular Post keestha
Going to rural open air concerts, I always greatly enjoyed the atmosphere, but was always aware that all of a sudden a violent brawl can break out, and you you have to tale the split second decision to pick up your stuff, and possible infant children, and flee.

Interman
This stuff happens all the time at rural concerts. I've seen police shoot in the air to break up a fight. It's an Asian thing I think. If you watch movies from HK or Taiwan, there always big group fights with blades and bats. Popular Post mrtoad
Yeah, often these concerts end up turning ugly, hence never will go to them. They seem to attract a certain type, who like to get wrecked and look for trouble.
bkkgooner
I still can't believe they actually stationed 50 police officers at a rock festival, I wonder how much the concert organizers had to pay for that? At least they captured the suspects quickly, reading stories like this makes me worry about my 11 year old starting to go out with friends to things like this with his mates in a few years.
Popular Post FrankOff
yes, the Carabao concerts are notorious for brawls especially during a few songs that seem to really hit an emotional nerve. I do seasonal summer concert food vending(Thai) at large music festivals around North America each year and my wife once said that this type of organization and participation of a multi-day music event couldn't happen in Thailand because,in her opinion, the frustrated 'tribal-tendancies' of the people would surface and undermine everything....in short they would rather kill each other than help each other. I had to laugh at her language, but it is certainly is a different social culture..... but obviously violence is inherent in the human-condition. This is a major problem worldwide: people drink and start acting arrogant and always look for trouble. But it is an Asian thing... Something happened to you in our home country... One event.. Here, it seems to be the prevalent MO when opinions diverge amongst teens... And I do remember the start of knife wounds in Ottawa back then, when asian immigrants arrived... Before that, it was just about unheard of...
SteveFong
c'mon people, this is not a Thai specific occurance we all know, this happens everywhere, and in many cases, starts when a girl snubs a guy, or an ex girlfriend is with a new guy I walked out of a concert in one of the calmest places on earth, in northern california, or, at least so I thought, when out of nowhere, one guy was calling another guy out, using the usual female dog profanity, and then when the guy didnt want to fight, the antagonist pulled a gun, and fired in the air, they couldnt have been more than 20 Edited October 24, 2014 by SteveFong

This is a major problem worldwide: people drink and start acting arrogant and always look for trouble. Same thing happens in Papua New Guinea. Big concerts and sing-sings are a hazard, and on pay nights small axes are the order of the day. The only difference in customs appears to be that one group is darker skinned and often wear feathers in their hair and carry a large cane-cutting knife. The other group dress neatly, have a smart phone in their hands 24/7, and carry smaller knives. Both groups are very tribal and turn violent for the smallest reason.
