Could someone please confirm the correct RTGS transcription for the following:

ชมพู่ทับทิมจันทร์

I think it should be CHOMPHU THAPTHIM CHAN, but for some reason the thai-language.com site comes up with CHOMPHU THAPTHIM CHANTHA.

Thank you for your help.

Dear KhunBENQ,

Thank you for your confirmation. I appreciate it.

As you say, Thai-language.com is not perfect, but it is a great site most of the time.

Thank you for your patience. I would like to ask you to use a "work around" and see if you get better results. In "site settings" please go to "Romanization and Phonemic Thai". Under the Romanization system, click the radio button for RTGS in the "default" column and in the "show" column. Then click on "save settings in the lower right-hand area of the box.

Then, when looking up a transcription go to http://www.thai-language.com/BulkLookup which can be accessed by clicking on "bulk look-up" in the left-hand column of the site page found below F.A.Q. This section will not only give you transcription information, but translation information as well.

Please let me know if this process works for you. I very much appreciate your assistance in improving the accuracy and functionality of the T-L.com site.

Dear DavidHouston,

I followed your instructions and the correct reading came up.

Actually, I already had the RTGS 'default' and 'show' sections checked. The difference was looking up the word in the Bulk Lookup section.

Thank you for your help.

Sure it works. I am using this setting and feature for quite a while.

But be aware that there are still some tricky words/street names etc. where the transcription fails.

Maybe I can find an example...

Dear KhunBENQ,

Thank you for your comment.

I guess no system can be 100% perfect, especially with a language such as Thai and the RTGS system.

It does work in most cases and has assisted me greatly.
