Hi,

Came to Thailand July 18th on ED visa. I sent my 90d report by mail about 6-8 days before the report date and haven't gotten the receipt back. It's now over a week after the report date. I followed these instructions http://www.thaiembassy.com/thailand/90-day-reporting-immigration.php I now notice that the address is different from the one Thaivisa recommends at http://www.thaivisa.com/extensions90-day-reporting.html

Should I keep waiting for the receipt or just go to Chaeng Watthana early next week to find out if they got it or not?

My apologies for standard question, tried the search function too.

Thanks for any help,

Rob

Possibly you came back with an year long extension of stay and re-entry permit (it is not a visa)?

If it was an actual ED visa, you are allowed for 90 days and these expired Oct 15th, placing you on overstay.

i have 90day extension on my visa which i did after july 18 and which expires november 22.

you are correct that i am on overstay (if they didnt receive my letter with the documents), but then again i sent the 90d report via mail about a week before oct 15 but never received the receipt back (did everything according to the instructions as linked in the op).

so should i wait for the letter back (given that it may have been mailed to wrong address) or just visit the immigration to settle this?

That does not seem correct either. If you came with and ED visa on Jul 18, and then added an extension of stay of 90 days, you should be allowed in country until Jan 14th 2015, not Nov 22th.

Failing to report is not overstay but can be fined like 2,000 Baht. You last day to report was one week after Oct 15th, but having obtained an extension for the first time, that should have reset the 90 days, so were not required to report.

oh i'm sorry, i'm currently on my 2nd extension, will apply for a 3rd one before november 22 when the current extension expires.

sorry for the confusion, my "visa lingo" is not very good

What I'm trying to tell you, the dates don't add up, when you came in on July 18th, did you had an extension of stay with re-entry permit ?

In any case if you failed to report the allowed date has gone by already (one week after Oct 15th), so it will make no difference going to check now.

i had a re-entry permit for my ED visa on a 90d extension.

entered country with a re-entry permit july 18.

extended ED visa for another 90 days on august 24.

current extension about to expire november 22.

so if i dont get the letter back, i just pay the 2000 baht fine when i do my next 90 day extension at the immigration?

That is what I inferred in my first reply. You had and have an extension of stay, not a visa.

my apologies for the confusion.

i'm dumb with these things, so i have to ask again: so if i dont get the letter back, i just pay the 2000 baht fine when i do my next 90 day extension at the immigration? or what is my best move at this moment to avoid any extra trouble?

million thanks for your time and help paz, much appreciated.

I would be optimistic that they processed the report by mail. Even if they didn't, it is not said that you will be fined anyway. I do not see a strong reason to go there before the next extension is due.

ah damn, thanks. i dont have a receipt so screwed it up properly. gonna just go there today and try to explain and most likely pay the fine. thanks for the help!

they had not received the report via mail so had to pay the 2k fine. shame that such high rank google search result has 5year old info and im dumb enough to believe a single website without checking more. lesson learned

I have read in all the discussion over the past week that when you send in your 90 day report by registered mail, you are meant to enclose a REGISTERED self-addressed and stamped envelope for the receipt to be returned to you. I might have heard this in the presentation made to expats last week.

As mentioned above, sending it to the correct Immigration Dept address will certainly help.

There is no requirement for the return envelope be for registered mail (not even sure it is possible). It just has to have a 5 baht stamp on it is the only requirement.

Only sending it to immigration requires it to be sent by registered mail. Many people send it by EMS instead.

What happens if you don't receive the notification slip back?

I know the procedure is to wait a month then contact Immigration with your tracking number, but what's the procedure if they received it and say they returned it.

Come the next 90 day report you haven't got a notification slip to send back!

Has this happened to anyone yet?

I prefer EMS as its easy to track on Thai Post site. Pre paid return EMS is possible. Use it for my postal 90 day reports.

That is the most common problem that occurs. They will do a new receipt for the report and give it to you.

Give it to me?

Sorry Joe, did you mean send me another.

If return EMS is an option, as thetefldon reports then I'll use that.

My concern is that our village has 5 different address's so far. The problem was caused when the developer put a board up with a different name than that given by the Amphur, which was also spelt wrong in both Thai and English. Apparently it confused the Post office for a while, although the local postman knows the problem.

I sent myself two addressed envelopes, one to the address on the board, one to the address given by the Amphur.

I got neither back....................sad.png

I meant give it to you. I think the contact them means going to the office.

I am not sure they would mail another one to you if you called them.

Having to go to the office to collect it defeats the object of sending it by post, but I also can't see them paying for postage, because you didn't receive your notification slip. Maybe they would accept you sending them another pre paid return envelope.

I know there is no requirement to send a pre paid EMS return, but it could be common sense to do so.

Thanks for your opinion on the matter Joe.
