November 18, 201411 yr Here is an idea: 1. Smaller classrooms. 2. Better teacher pay. No point in reading the rest of the list because your first two suggestions translate into less money going to the bottom line (read: less profit for school owners/administrators). That means your idea goes right into the circular file. Edited November 18, 201411 yr by attrayant
November 18, 201411 yr Let's try applying a similar rule to english: The letters/combinations "A", "E", "AI" goes in front of a consonant. I just hate when it rains, because I get wet becomes I just ahte wehn it airns , ebacuse I egt ewt That's still fairly readable. Actually, that rule is a big help in reading Thai. It provides one of the few easy syllable boundary rules.
November 18, 201411 yr Just make english an official language (yes I know not likely to happen)- the language of business and technology How is that going to help? 1/3 of the population don't have high levels of literacy in their mother tongue so let's add a language which virtually nobody knows beyond the most basic level. Great idea. More like 2/3. Most Thais' mother tongue is not Central Thai.
November 24, 201411 yr You think that the average IQ of Thais is only 90 has something to do with it? Definitely. However, even 90 may be a generous manipulation, as I recall a published report around 2001 which stated that the average IQ was low 80s (was surprised they actually admitted it). Perhaps the iodine they have allegedly been putting in the water supply since then is slowly having some effect.
