Pattaya police helped a foreigner who was drunk and dropped his belongings in a Family Mart. He purchased alcohol and sat outside where he fell asleep.

PATTAYA – November 2, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 06.30 am the police went to inspect a Family Mart in North Pattaya after they were notified that a drunken foreigner went into the shop and dropped his belongings before he fell asleep on the footpath near the shop. The shop employees notified the police to help him.

At the scene the police officers found the foreign man asleep on the path they tried to wake him up but he stayed asleep. Therefore the police had to check his belongings in order to find where he stayed so they could take him back home. However the police officers didn’t find any documents.

Should a man that drunk be riding on a moto taxi? unsure.png

The top picture of him lying on the street looks like it could be used for a new Prohibition movement poster!

Well, if you really have to tie one on to THAT degree, in public, I guess just having a quiet seat on the curb is probably the best course of action... 'Not going to fit anyone's definition of a "quality tourist", but when I think of the antics & predicaments other inebriates seem to get themselves into, this guy's relatively low on the nuisance scale (tho' I suppose the F-Mart mgr might've preferred he stumbled in & out of somebody else's store). Credit where credit is due; good job of the store employees & police working together to get the guy off the street without incident and safely back to his hotel room. I reckon the moto-taxi driver has chauffeured worse...

Been there, done that, no problem ...

Not going to fit anyone's definition of a "quality tourist",.

If he is staying in a 4 or 5 star hotel, than he fits TAT's wanted demographic. At least he was not doing anything detrimental like visiting factories, trying to buy car parts or attending a trade show, then he would be breaking the law if on a tourist visa.

I too have met many decent policemen and convenience store clerks.

Cultural comment.

Notice to happy funny tone of the news article. Because it's booze.

Now imagine what the story would have been like if he was out cold on the street with a needle in his arm ... coffee1.gif

Not meant to be flippant.

Alcohol kills.

Oh, please. (But I'd agree - he's probably not the ideal liver donor...)

Well looking at booking.com the hotel he mentioned that he stays at starts at 2,500 Baht.

Lucky to be taken to his hotel. In America, he wouldn't have been so lucky. To the hospital and then the drunk tank.

No law broken, but it's news because it's an American.

I think it wouldn't have made the news if he was Thai or neighboring Asean person. But any white foreigner ... yes, it is seen as amusing by the "press" here.

And this is news?

If he'd smoked some weed and fallen asleep he'd be branded a drug addict and condemned by the majority here, and also arrested for possession.

Another lost soul in a town of lost souls. I hope he finds happiness; it certainly isn't at the bottom of a bottle.

And this is news?

It beats the Live Haircut channel.

No law broken, but it's news because it's an American.

It's only news because there's invariably a Thai press photographer on the scene within seconds of an incident where police presence is required. Wonder how that happens?

And this is news?

Yes, it is a BiB image-restoration article. Now, they need only 10,000,000 more...

It's becoming quite a common sight here on the streets of Philadelphia Pattaya. Vagrants from the 50 states still suffering from delusions of their healthcare reform.

Straight from the movie The Wanderer's (leave the kid alone).

He's okay what's the big deal xpartytime2.gif.pagespeed.ic.V_K7hML3fS. .

Lol, how nice of them.

Anyone thinks his drink could have been spiked?

Never in Thailand. coffee1.gif

24 hours in the city jail ought to get him on his feet.

Thailand likely has the highest percentage of foreign alcoholics in the world. Another quality tourist. If Thailand banned alcohol the tourist numbers would drop by the millions and likely millions of less problems.

The bottle seems to be the cure for most foreigners here. Go ahead drink yourself silly.

Not drunk looks more like heat exhaustion from another high end tourist nothing to worry about a short nap and he will be just fine no need for a DNA test yet.
