Coir tea for starts?

Featured Replies

My compost is at least a month from being finished. Meanwhile i have a buttload of coconut fiber and a shredder. Thinking of watering with coir tea. Any insights? Google has nothing.

Thats why we use it in hydro, nothing in there.

As Rice says, there's very little point in making a tea from coir as you will not get much nutrient value from it.

There is nothing stopping you from brewing a tea from your unfinished compost. add a little EM and fresh green grass/weeds for the nitrogen.

Most local coire does contain high levels of salt, sodium chloride, (NaCl) and needs washing, if using as is. Best to compost it first.

Regards.

Loong--I never knew. Followed your advice and it smells perfect. Aquarium pump plus molasses making the 25 gallon trash can bubble and foam like root beer. Still have a lot of coir and a giant shredder. Good mulch?
