Disturbing numbers of Tourist deaths.

Featured Replies

New Zealand is far more dangerous than Thailand for tourists. NZ offers bungee jumping, skiing, mountaineering, glaciology, skydiving, rafting, icy roads, all night drinking, skydiving........almost on every corner.

So why do far more tourists per-see die in Thailand compared to New Zealand?

It is simply a cultural thing, and there is nothing the Police or anyone else can do about it.

They need to wake up to themselves.

Exhausted just reading that. NZ sounds like hard work.

firstly, the numbers of deaths should be detailed into illness, accidental, old age, murder

Hard to do when the Thai police/authorities habitually lie about foreigners cause of death.

What you can do is consider the deaths of ALL foreigners in Thailand, in which the numbers become frightening.

not as frightening as here

so in 2012,

Thailand:150 deaths out of 948,000 visits equals 1 death for every 6320 visits

Philipines: 68 deaths out of 191,150 visits equals 1 death for every 2811 visits

Vietnam: 54 deaths out of 290,000 visits equals 1 death for every 5370 visits

Then compare with the 2433 deaths in AUSTRALIA from visitors in the past SEVEN years , average 347 per year and 6.8 million visitors in 2014.(and the stats are only up to SEPTEMBER this year) = about 1in 20000 (and likely lower as no full year)........yes we can see how safe it is in Thailand but its ok as there is somewhere worse for you to fall back onlaugh.png

Surely there are many issues for anyone to travel anywhere these days. You can easily find trouble when you go looking and when full of alcohol you dont even have to look as you yourself is the trouble.

For every single person that says they had trouble in Thailand there are many thousands that didnt and those that did usually admit they drunk and did something stupid

funny, .the guy who wrote the article is the one who wrote a book which to come out soon..

haha coincidence hey. He trying to flog the book anywhere he can so good for him to create a scare.

funny; never hear much about backpacker, tourist who go to australia to get murdered!

I suppose this guy be paying dues for his advertising and getting a pat on the head from mr abbot since more older aussies than ever are now leaving australia for places like thailand bcos of ridiculous rules, taxes, bans on eveything.

1 example..No they tell you not to gamble. It destroys familys ect. They make many tough laws to save you from addiction but then allow gamble company to be advertised on tv.haha

Anyway, this guy tryung to sell his anti travel anti asia book..just another desperado trying to cash in on a few peoples bad managment/luck/stupidiy while on holiday and try to talk another country down.

I can write a book "ting tong travel guide-how to save yourself from you own stupidity"

*I might need some help with the english tho :)

Childish bickering/banter removed
