While sitting enjoying one of their reasonably priced generous pints. I found myself wondering why there are so many guys in here, and so few ladies.

Then I started wondering why the place was named Robin Hood. Makes sense right, or just coincidence?

Robin Hood is the most boring pub in existence.

boring how?

seemed pretty busy with when i was there. the food was too pricey for my liking starting around 300 baht for cheesburger and fries and up for other dishes. pints of carlsburg were ok for 99 baht for the size you get.

was a lot of older men 50's-60's expat type regulars without partners, no tourists.

Its just my personal opinion....others may vary...no worries.

there's always a different opinion. what's the point of posting if you can't give reasons?

OK it reminds me of the kind of pub you might find at a London train station.

Big....soulless and just a little unkempt

Not my thing.

I find a pint is pretty much the same size wherever you go.

I like the Robin Hood if the person you're meeting is more important than the place. It's generally easy to get a seat, they sell beer and it's not too noisy. It's also quite easy to find, and fairly convenient for the BTS. The Black Swan is much more expensive, and you're dicing with death coming back from the boot-wash after a few.

Really? Where have they served you an undersized pint?

I don't mind the Robin Hood. It's a little soulless but the service is good, and it's a nice place for a game of pool. Prefer No Idea just down the road on Soi 22 though, similar prices and much better atmosphere.

For once I agree with you. A pub apparently designed by somebody who has never been in one, a soulless abortion of a place.

I have been in very occasionally and generally only for a specific reason, bit of a waste of being in Bangkok to drink regularly in a place that reminds you of Warrington New Town.

interesting, seems like a lot of the dissenters hail from the uk and this bar reminds them of drinking in a cold climate or just the uk in general.

i think the sausage fest aspect is common in the uk as well, if i'm not mistaken.

Warrington New Town is a great place.

One of the things I like about the Robin Hood is that it has a mezzanine level. That is always a useful addition to any pub.

One of my favourites in Singapore, the lobby of the Parkview Square building, has faux mezzanine levels - and a band on top of the bar and a wine fairy to boot. Perhaps a wine fairy would improve the Robin Hood.

the one thing that puts me off about a lot of these pubs is the apparently self proclaimed " locals " who hog the bar area and then get all shirty when they get shouldered out the way after asking to be excused in front of their bit on the side.

fark me ! anyone would think some of these establishments were private members bars and probably the main reason why i choose to stick with how the natural inhabitants of this country do things to have a good time.

rather than be associated with a load of ex pat old farts with their fingers shoved so far up their own <deleted> ( especially the ones who like to comment on live sporting events, but clearly have no idea what they are talking especially when it comes to the rules and regulations of such a sport )

there are always exceptions though. biggrin.png

I suspect we have a bar manager in our midst.

Mezzanine level? Are we talking about the same place? Sure you're not confusing it with the plastic paddy gaff in Convent Road? But how seriously can you take someone who makes a statement like that about anything Warrington.

Try the Sportsman in Singapore, above Harrys Bar and a few minutes from Orchard Road metro, possibly slightly cheaper than most as well as having a bit of an "alehouse" ambience. More than two years since I've been there mind,

<deleted> is this fey lad on about? Lost me completely. Reminds me only of the worst possible aspect of drinking in the UK.
