Southern region warned of new round of heavy downpour this week

11-11-2557-10-46-57-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- As the southern region is still suffering from flooding, and is recovering today, another round of heavy downpour is expected from tomorrow due to the strengthened northeasterly monsoon which is blanketing the Gulf of Thailand and the south.

The Thai Meteorological Department said the combination of the strengthened monsoon and the approaching low pressure system in the lower South China sea to blanket the southern region will result in new round of heavy rains in large areas in the South, beginning tomorrow until Saturday.

High waves also are expected in the Gulf of Thailand during the period.

Meanwhile a new and strong wave of cold spell will blanket the country’s northern region from tomorrow.

The strong cold spell will result in rains in the northern, northeastern, central, and eastern regions in the first days and the dropping of temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celcius afterwards, it said.

Former Squadron Leader stripped of rank on guilt of lese-majeste

BANGKOK, 11 November 2014 (NNT) – The Royal Gazette has published a Prime Minister’s Office order to permanently remove former Squadron Leader Chanin Klaiklueng from his title and recall the royal decorations previously conferred on him to the military, effective on November 26, 2014.

The officer has been found guilty of committing severe disciplinary offences, and defaming the monarchy with intention to harm His Majesty the King. He will be discharged from military service on November 26.

Under the Prime Minister’s Office Regulation B.E. 2548 (2005), clauses 6 and 7, the government, with a royal approval, is empowered to strip military officers found guilty as charged of their ranks and decorations.

Former Squadron Leader Chanin had once worked as the head of the Air Force’s engineering section. When he was on duty, he had posted derogatory comments online using an anonymous identity and was charged with violating Section 112 of the Criminal Code back in 2010.

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) had summoned the former squadron leader twice to justify his actions but he denied to answer the calls and also made comments against the military coup.
