My HP Deskjet 1510 has been working with no problems for over a year.

This week trying to print from computer as usual...nothing happens. Message on screen says the printer is not recieving instructons.

Check cables,unplug, re connect......nothing.

Try to simply manualy copy a doc.. nothing.. So it would point to the printer at fault....but maybe the computer so I remove the printer program from the computer and insert the installation disc to re-install........nothing appears on the screen...no install taking place...re-try....nothing.

Maybe the cd player not working,so try a DVd film...all OK.

So....cant reinstall the printer program....cant get the printer to manualy copy

Not my day !!

So suggestions please.

Check the HP website for an uninstall tool. You would normally need to reboot after uninstalling before being able to reinstall, and with HP products it is important to follow the recommended installation sequence very carefully (ie plug the printer in only when told to).

HP software is rubbish.

Always try the easiest things first, which you did such as check cable connections. If it's a USB port try another port. Try another device on that port to see if the port is working. Reboot printer. Reboot computer with printer unplugged and then plug printer into computer.

Only as a last resort uninstall and reinstall the driver per HP instructions.

My HP 7525 is wireless (or wired but wireless now.) Love it.

What makes me think is the fact, that even locally copying on the printer does not work.

If you disconnect the printer from the PC and have the printer powered on it should be able to do local copies, shouldn't it?

The control panel on the printer does not show a problem ( "!" indicator? cartridge empy?).
