Passport shows her in - and - outs

Visited England yearly for the last prior 2 years.

Works for well known hotel chain as a manager, so steady secure position.

Has Car, Land (excess 100rai), House.

Finances - Has access to her salary or land payments or access to my finances.

/////

We want to go to Caine's Australia for a week end march beginning of April, holiday, relaxation general tourism.

What should we expect applying for Aussie Visa for her, time frame, deposit amount if any as collateral?

Also what is the minimum they supply as i'd rather get the flights and hotel booked up asap so getting a 6month visa now would be perfect if possible for when we go.

Cairns Australia ?

Cairns Australia yes, apologies for any typos as on mob

I was just checking. It's a holiday, you need to goto the Oz visa centre, apply for a tourist visa, show evidence of funds, bookings, airfares. No real fuss.

A mod will be along soon to move this to the visa sub section for foreign countries.....then the gurus there will help you.

I did it years ago. My experience is irrelevant today.

The visa was issued in about 48 hours back then. Really, they only want to see it's legit and that she will return to LOS at the end of the holiday. These guys will correct my mistakes but it's relatively easy.

My wife did her own paperwork, which is easy enough

She collected photos of us together, from in Thailand and on other holidays

I wrote a letter to "sponsor"her I.e. I said I would cover any and all expenses during the holiday

We both showed evidence of return tickets out of Australia

We proved that we were financially secure

That's it

Thank you, taking from this, is show photos (the norm) show finances (the norm), show in and out flights and await the visa.

What sort of process times?

She is flying from zurich tomorrow morning, and i am due from male this evening, is there any booking time like the UK and Shenghan or can we pop to the Australian Embassy in Bkk tomorrow? and start the process...

thanks

took my wife back there last year, took a week or so for her to send off the application and get the reply. She had to show that she was in a full time job and was returning to it, they want to make sure they wont do a runner once they arrive. For some reason thais have a bad name as tourists n Australiaw00t.gif

In reply to above post seajae.

Thais are classed as high risk.

In the op's case, it should be straight forward stuff being from the UK.

Enjoy your Aussie holiday mate!

Cairns is not bad, Darwin is better imo, and if you want to see a lovely part of Australia I suggest look into Tasmania. Stunningly beautiful place that gets missed by most tourists being so southern.

Dont expect to go to the beach in Cairns because there are none .You have to pay through the nose to get a boat to the islands.

Take Krisb advice.

Yep kevvy, not a beach in sight.

Great if you like mangrove swamps.

I worked on prawn boats in Cairns and saw beautiful beaches up north from Cairns, but I found Darwin much more nicer.

I always say to anyone visiting Aus, visit Darwin and then drive a motorhome around Tasmania.

Not sure if you can get much better then that! Especially with your wife anyhow.

Perhaps I should give you some information and you can better advise me which will be greatly appreciated.

5/6 Star based person, prefer seaviews with coral reefs, turquoise water etx

Fine restaurants, savy cocktail bars

White sand over yellow or brown.

Yachting over fishing boats

Out of the city but near enough to drive within a few hours

Which area fills in to this segment? Please don't say Sydney or Melbourne :)

The seas around Tasmania are quite cold. If you are determined to go to Australia for beach, reefs and sun you really need to go out to the islands off Queensland. Perhaps better places with the kind of budget you seem to have would be Daydream, Turtle or Lizard islands. You could stay on the mainland & get trips out to the reefs, but cannot think of any coastal towns that would meet your criteria; someone may have a more positive view than me. Perhaps a good idea could be a crewed yacht charter in the Whitsundays. Just thought of Port Douglas, 70 ks north of Cairns (it would be generous to define Cairns as a city) might fit the bill as a base, though no views of the reefs.

You said you're not interested, but if you haven't previously been to Australia, you may like to stop off in Sydney for a few days on the way to the Whitsundays/islands. Some outstanding high end world class restaurants, beautiful beaches and harbour.

Northern New South Wales Coast is my preferred spot. I love Tassie...lived there for 4 years in fact but if I compared it to New Zealand then the big NZ wins hands down.

Summer is here, so for North Queensland that means it is stinger season..I.e. carry the vinegar if you want to swim or wear a stinger suit. I lived in Townsville and Charters Towers and to be honest it's too hot at this time of year. I'll say again the weather is perfect in Northern New South Wales at this time of year.

And I love NZ.so much I go there for a holiday most years.

I think you'll like Main beach where i have suggested above.

I forgot you must do our best oysters

http://shuck.com.au/

For travel the GC has it's own airport if you wish to see the rest of oz, yet I always fly into brisbane from bangers with Thai as it's a direct flight - you could skytrain it down it stops at the int airport 1hr trip but then need to change- or use a chartered pickup

Edit - Sorry -no coral reefs here but we have the best beaches for swimming and living :-) Maybe try hamilton island/Airlie beach off central QLD coast for reefs

OP seems people have turned this into advice on tourist destinations. I have been through the "visa for Thai gf" couple of times. Your application will have no problem. I used a very good site for advice written by an Australian.

PM me if you require any advice.

OP Sorry forgot to address your point about when to apply.....while its advised not to buy plane tickets etc before applying for a visa, many people do. Especially when the application is very sound. Your gf meets the criteria. The process time is very quick. About 5 business days. They state 10. First time applications are mostly given 3 month visa. This means you get 3 months stay from when you enter. The VFS in trendy building is where she makes her application. You can attend with her. Good process. The officer will look through the application to make sure the required docs are there. In my gf case we had forgotten to make an extra photo copy of pic page of passport. (They staple receipt and write your ref no on this and you keep). I simply went to the photocopier there. All easy.
