New Emporium Food Court Now Open

Was in the new Emporium food court yesterday that just opened on the fifth floor. What a disappointment! It's poorly lit with bad signage and prices that are 3-4X higher than Terminal 21. Even makes Paragon look cheap. It appears they are targeting the expatriate ladies who lunch crowd or clueless tourists.

Can't stand Emporium, new reason not to go there....can't stand Terminal 21 either....lots of excellent and reasonably priced food halls all over Bangkok, why anyone goes to the obscenely over priced tourist and sucker traps is beyond me, and it's nothing to do with ability to afford it, it's about not liking to be ripped off.

The old Emporium food court was ridiculously overpriced from what I remember. This shouldn't be a surprise. It's the Emporium.

Even makes Paragon look cheap.

Paragon's basement food court isn't bad. I mean it's more expensive than Central Pinklao or something but it's very reasonable. I mostly eat street food and I'm more than happy to stop for a meal there when I'm in the area.

If you are in the area you should try the food court at Siam Center (Food Republic?). Better food, cheaper food and less crowded than Paragon. Probably better range of food as well.

You must be living in a parallel universe to me the. T21 food court, and also restaraunt selection IMO is excellent, and price wise the food court is not expensive.

T21 is a pretty good place to eat. The only thing I can find fault with is that it's a pain getting a seat at peak hours.

The duck with black noodles is particularly good there.

Personally I prefer the food court in the Robinson next to Terminal 21. There's not such a big selection of stalls but I've always found it tastier than Terminal 21 and they don't skimp on the portions especially the kow man gai. Plus they've got a Mrs Balbir's stall if you fancy a quick bite of Indian grub.

I've never been to the food court, I just hate Terminal 21, like I hate most malls, and if I can't see immediately where to go when I step through the doors of one of these malls then I immediately leave, because I hate getting trapped in a maze of elevators and deceptive signs, if they have signs, and an apparent total absence of ways out once you get sucked into those places. I need exact instructions for how to find the food court once I'm in the building?

what a fuddy duddy....T21 food court like most food courts are on the top floor or ground/basment, unless your half blind with low IQ pretty hard not to find them...in your case do take a packed lunch from home when ever you go out for the day.

I like Robinsons next to T21 but for differant reasons and the major one is no problems getting a table ever at any time of day or evening.

Very true and its also handy to pop into the Tops literally a step away to pick up some goodies.

Note to self. Eat first and then go shopping for grub. Shopping on an empty stomach is fatal to my wallet biggrin.png

It's not my fault the malls are designed to deliberately make people get lost.

And those information desks with the girls that are supposed to help? You'd think after spending five minutes asking them to explain how you get there, then coming back a few minutes later after getting lost, then repeating the same procedure three more times, that they would just escort me there and save time. But oh no, that would be far too sensible wouldn't it. It's another part of the whole mall experience that I can't stand, the way even those girls working at the information desk deliberately give out misleading directions. In fact, I suspect they outright lie. So quite why anybody seems surprised I don't like malls is totally beyond me.

is emporium the mall where it's next to a bts station? The one where they have the lift attendants saluting you.

Emporium is at Phom phrong BTS ... Suk Soi 24.

Terminal 21 is at Asoke BTS ... Suk Soi 19.

Central Chitlom is at Chitlom BTS

Paragon is at Siam (Central) BTS

I'm not sure which one has lift attendants saluting you, but I don't think it's Emporium, Terminal 21 or Central Chitlom.

Emporium has a nice big bookshop (2 actually), and good food selection beyond the food court- nice relaxing au bon pan and star bucks in emporium tower connected to the mall- emporium basically less manic than the other malls.

Tried to go to Emporium today. The Mrs. insisted on driving there.

There was NO available parking. Almost all the spots are now reserved and there are still many work crews for finishing the renovation.

However if you have a Rolls with license plate nr. 1, you can get a spot. Even the car was getting annoyed.

So we said F this and went to J avenue. Meh. Expensive lunch.

i went into terminal 21 specifically looking for a food court. never found it. i think i searched every floor.

very rarely can i gind anything specific in one of these crowded malls. it always ends up browsing, never buying anything due to preferring local prices and sitting somewhere with a $4 latte mentally exhausted.

You quite obviously didn't search every floor. Or do you think we're just pretending its there?
