Transferring visa to Emergency Travel Document

Featured Replies

I am going to get a ETD (Emergency Travel Document) as I have lost my passport. I had a 90 day stamp and an extension I'd stay on my old passport. I am also going home for Christmas so I was originally looking to get a reentry stamp in my passport. How do I get my stamps transferred to my ETD? Is it possible? Can I get a re-entry permit on my ETD too? How much would all of it cost? Thanks.

With the ETD you visit immigration to have the details trnasferred to the ETD. For this you will need an embassy letter and a police report of the missing passport.

Transfer of details is free. Once that is done you can get a re-entry permit, for which you need to pay 1,000 baht and provide a paspsort photo.

The reinstatement of the stamps will cost nothing. If you have copies of your old passport and departure card? It will make it easier if you do.

You need this form completed http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/pdf/lostpassport.pdf And have a copy of the police report and a letter from the embassy confirming you got the ETD from them.

Once they have done the stamps in the ETD you an apply for a single re-entry permit that will cost 1000 baht.

From what I've read when you arrive at your destination you're not allowed to keep the ETD, immigration keep it and you won't get it back.

You need to read the thread a little bit further.

You can use it to return to Thailand if you are residing in Thailand.

Hey Ubonjoe, thanks for the info. Apparently I can apply for a ETD as well as a new passport if the latter fails to show. I have a copy of my passport but not the latest 90 day stamp. The last time I told them the TM6 departure card had fallen out and he let me off. Maybe it helped I had proof of residence with me, I don't know. I guess my question is this; if I don't have copies of my latest 90 day stamp how are they going to know it was ever stamped in the first place?

Immigration will have a record of your last 90 day entry into Thailand and your extension of permission to stay in their computer database.

I am however a bit confused by your original post; do you have a 90 day entry from the border or a permission to stay (granted by your local Thai Immigration Department)?

When you refer to a 90 day stamp are you in fact referring to the papers from a 90 day report at your local immigration dept?

Either way these should be restorable from the data base, but it's always much easier if you have a photocopy of the original passport.
