Posting more than 4 quotes in mobile app doesn't display in browser

Featured Replies

The mobile app will allow you to post more than 4 quotes in a post, but the browser won't display it properly. This leads to mods deleting the post because "the quotes are messed up".

Can this be looked at, as completely valid posts are being deleted.

Whenever I try to open a page with multiple quotes, 5 or up, it crashes the TV App. Been happening even after updating and reinstalling and is very frustrating.

The easiest fix for this is people being more considerate of others when they post.

Instead of quoting 20 psaragraphs edit out the thing you want to reply to.

That is your fix right there....its not a fault of the forum.

Oh and using the latest version on my Nexus 5 it does not crash....it did with older versions/phones when five quotes were there.

If one is aware that 4 quotes is the limit, then it would be a no brainer to either edit out the excessive quotes or don't reply to such a post, unless there are of course issues to count to four.

Does the same with the browser on a phone.

With a phone it is really fiddly to delete nested quotes.

Thanks for heads up, I have forwarded this thread to the software developers.

On the app, you aren't always aware of how many nested quotes there are. You type your comment, and post. If it accepts it, "all's good".

To delete nested quotes, it usually involves holding the backspace key and then hoping you don't go too far as the cursor whips back. It's not that easy.

Maybe the app needs a "Delete nested quotes" button, so it's easier to keep it clean.

As whybother has suggested above...an easier way to delete each nested quote one by one would help a lot I think.

Not sure what version we're on here, but since version 2.0 IP Board software has a setting in the admin panel to automatically remove nested quotes from replies. When it's enabled and you quote a post that has quotes within it, those quotes are removed, so you only carry the quote of the person you are replying to into your post. That removes a whole lot of unnecessary quoting. If they could turn this on, we'd have no need for the four quote limit.

Attrayant, you seem to be talking about posting on a desktop computer, but this topic is about the mobile app.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Note - the same issue exists when replying to any post that used multi quote.

It totally screws up the replies.
