Popular Post siampolee
Now if the character was a suspected Ebola victim he should have been put into an isolation ward situation until such time as any infection would show if it was a positive matter. Yet we see a total indifference to the reality of the situation situation and now we have the possible chance of an Ebola victim roaming around Thailand and possibly infecting others. Ah well the Thai's state they have a cure for Ebola so one must suppose there is no need for concern is there?] Perhaps if the Thai's could ''discover '' a cure for ineptness we all might feel a little happier.
Popular Post CobraSnakeNecktie
They are just warming us up. Let's say your looking after your neighbors house while they are away. Their cat wanders out into the street and is flattened by a pickup truck When they call to check in you don't tell them straight away that Fluffy is a pancake. You start to with Fluffy climbed a big tree and won't come down. Next day you say some neighbors are trying to help coax fluffy down. Just get them used to the idea that fluffy is .......

Prbkk
Did his 10 friends stay there as well or did they just put that hotel on the immigration form? A group arrival from Sierra Leone, possibly suspicious in and of itself. i guess they might have some legitimate purpose for a visit but ....? The hotel is next door to Surasak BTS, so he could be anywhere, quickly.

bubba
According to the story: 1. He arrived at Suvarnabhumi and Disease Control Authorities suspected him of being infected with Ebola. 2. Immigration allowed him to enter 3. Officers escorted him to the hotel he reserved (Mode Sathorn). 4. He refused to check in to said hotel 5. Officers released him and let him go free. Am I missing something here???
Popular Post sungod
This is more than likely a case of inaccurate reporting, I would bet he was identified at the airport as someone who has come from an ebola area, therefore the health services would keep in contact with him for 21 days to see if he actually developed symptoms. He has most likely failed to keep contact
Popular Post BritTim
Unlike most here, it is my suspicion that the only symptoms of Ebola that he exhibited were the words "Sierra Leone" in his passport. Under those circumstances, asking him to stay in a hotel with daily checks for any real symptoms would be appropriate. Who knows why the guy wanted to leave. Maybe, he has a girlfriend somewhere else and/or did not like the prices at the hotel the authorities selected for him. I cannot believe for a moment that the authorities would detain a Thai coming back from West Africa.
bubba
From the looks of Mode Sathorn hotel's website, I sort of doubt that immigration selected what appears to be a rather high-end hotel for him. Once this story gets around, I wonder how Mode Sathorn's bookings will be looking.
noitom
Leave it to the Thais to stumble, bumble and fumble an Ebola case. He "just walked out" and refused to follow orders. The Thais lost him.
lemonjelly
Check possible E-Bola patient in at a hotel and tell him to report to local hospital on a daily basis........ shambolic response to say the least. One worries that an outbreak would be covered up to save embarrassment etc..... sooooo Thai.

Tatsujin
<slaps forehead> ...when dealing with something so potentially serious and life threatening, why are people given a choice about whether they are detained? Mind you, I guess the Thai's aren't so worried considering they have a cure for Ebola now. Not sure if it's actually been tested yet however or whether they just made it up.
