I have a multi entry one year OA visa which expires March 07, obtained from Hull

I want to remain in LOS based on retirement.

I still travel to the UK though.

I am over 60 yrs and have a Thai bank account and enough funds, a Thai driving licence and permanent residence. I am not married.

What are the best options?

Can I apply at any Thai Immigration border office for new or visa extensions ?

Would annual extensions be preferable until I want to apply for permanent retirement visa?

An O-A visa is a retirement extension of stay that you obtain in your home country by providing proof of funds there, police report, medical certificate. That visa provides a one year permitted to stay stamp. It that what you have? Or the more common multi entry "O" visa which only provides 90 day permitted to stay stamps?

Second I seriously doubt you have permanent residence (PR) if you are asking about this as that can only be obtained after living here for more than 3 years on extensions of stay and is not normally issued for retirement. PR is an official status so what you probably mean is that you live here full time?

There is no "permanent retirement visa". The best you can have short of PR is annual extensions of stay.

You can apply at any full service immigration office using your bank passbook, current letter from bank confirming account balance, medical certificate, passport, 4x6cm photos, TM.7 application form and 1,900 baht fee. Copies will also be required. You can also use a letter from your Embassy confirming pension income for the monetary requirements. Do that before your current or any permitted to stay period ends. Any travel after this will require a re entry permit to keep your one year permitted to stay alive and 90 day address reports will be required.

Thanks for your response.

I have a Non immigrant "O" multi entry visa. 90 day stay.Sorry for the confusion.

I want to extend it/ get an "annual extension of stay"

Can I do that in LOS? How do I do this?

Or better to return home after 12/15months to obtain another in Hull as I need to enter and re-enter

every two months.

A re entry visa every time I want to leave seems tedious and expensive?.

I have a Thai Driving Licence, which I obtained in Korat by using my rental contract as proof of having a residence. Hope that explains "residence".

I am in UK now but travelling back to Korat so will pick any reply on return.

Thanks again.

The re entry permit costs 1,000 baht and can be obtained at any immigration office and at Don Muang airport prior to a flight. You can also obtain a multi re-entry permit for 3,800 baht at the same time you extend your stay (or any time) that will allow unlimited entries until your next extension of stay.

But if you travel every other month you would probably do as well with the multi entry o visa until your situation changes.

If you do the math you will find that there is little cost difference between the two.

1. Multiple non-O

Visa fee GBP 90.00, exchange rate 72.09, = THB 6,488

2. Annual extension

Extension fee THB 1,900, multiple-entry re-entry permit THB 3,800, total THB 5,700

In the end, for you it is probably a question of which procedure you find less tedious.
