The Thai’s in control of these laws are well educated (educated in our countries) and are capable to compete in the international business environment but in a closed system like Thailand they RULE. They already have the best that Thailand has to offer and they are not about to let their fellow low-class countrymen acquire skills that could cut into their dominance of the Thai business market.

These laws not only exclude foreign competition but also help maintain their dominance over the lower-class in Thailand by not allowing the common-Thai (that can’t afford to be educated in the west) the opportunity of exposure to the methods and skills used to create successful business. The last thing they want is a skilled labor pool, they want a dumbed down pool of unmotivated morons falling asleep over a bowl of rice every day that they can get for 200 baht an hour while they make all the money.

Just look at the example of how they approach the English language issue, the Thai people are not stupid, it is not hard to set up a program to teach English to the masses. So why don’t they do it? Obviously they don’t want it. “By his deeds you shall know him” by their deeds you see what they want, they want to dominate with the least amount of hassles possible, eliminating foreign competition and maintaining a dumbed down unskilled labor pool.
