My top 3 stores in Thailand are as follows:

1. Homepro

- quality products and service

2. Macro

- a fine supermarket with huge fruit/veg, fish and meat section. Heaps of options for frozen meats / fish etc.

3. Lazada

- great online shop. The other day I ordered a few things at 4pm. The next day at midday they were delivered to my door (cash on delivery). We live in the north east of LOS. It was impressive service.

What are your 3 favourite shops? Retail or online.

You mean it WAS a British company.

From what I gather Tesco Is pulling out (or already has) and CP aim to take over.

Talat Thai - great for food, garden supplies, cookware etc. Prices low, especially if buying slightly larger quantities (give surplus to neighbours). Good source of hard to find regional ingredients. The stall holders can be a bit of a laugh once they see that you are a regular.

Royal Project - Good quality fruit & veg. Supplies can be a bit erratic.

Do Home - Huge DIY shed, good choice of tools, hardware, garden supplies etc. They supplied and organised the installation of my concrete kitchen and did a good job.

Building, gardening, hardware, tools etc: Thai Watasadu

Food and other stuff like Office supplies etc: MAKRO

Online computer, electronics etc : InvadeIT

But I also like the local markets for a bit of all and colore local.

Big C, which is easily my fave shopping experience in Thailand. If I want anything, Big C is my first port of call. Most of my clothes bought there.

Home Pro, reasonable variety of stock (in the larger stores), and return/exchange posible.

Banana IT, for same reasons as Home Pro.

Big C.. with their In house Casino brand products that catering for Thais and those who can read

French,, nothing in English on the label, screw the non Thai or French customer.. let them guess

what they're buying...

1. Foodland, not quite the Farang selection of Villa and Tops but much better prices, and Took Lai Dee isn't a bad place to eat.

2. Fortune Town for computers, phones and electronics. Not the tourist/farang trap that Pantip Plaza is, and you don't have touts pushing porn in your face.

3. Many of the shops and stalls at MBK, for Farang sized clothing at decent prices.

I'll throw in a 4th pick. Pizza Aroy in the Town in Town area (not the one on Sukhumvit). Great thin crust pizza with very good prices.

Casino brands are great! How much Thai you have on the label of products in USA? So why should there be English on labels in Thailand?

I like Robinsons. When they have a sale on items like bedsets you can pick up some real bargains.

The supermarket in Central Chidlom is usually my place to stock up on goodies.

In my opinion, Tesco is the worst store for closed checkouts when people are waiting to be served. This applies to their stores in both the UK and Thailand.

Again in my opinion, Robinsons sell the best quality of things, ie I have bought flasks from various stores, and none have even lasted a year, the one I have now was bought more than three years ago, and is still going strong.

Can add Villa market, True value and Tops. Then there are many small shops that sell stuff at very good prices, better than Tesco or Big C.

On another note, I have bought many things from Lazada but now have run into a major problem. I bought a software package from them and when I scratched to get to the activation code two letters/numbers came off with the covering strip. Its now been 3 weeks and 10 phone calls and still no answer. They deliver on time etc etc but when you run into a problem you have a problem.

The only good thing about Homepro is that you can check that the DIY/product actually exists in Thailand ( their website is useless) and ( many tools and equipment i use in my hobby cannot be bought here) and then, go to a local DIY shop and buy it for 2/3rds the price
