Hi,

I read all answers in this thread http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...cel+work+permit

about canceling a work permit. But my problem is different. My visa will expire with the work permit because I'm on a extension.

My company canceled the workpermit but i did not sign anything yet and my flight leaves tomorrow to Hong Kong. My company has my work permit and handed it back but I heard I have to sign something.

It was canceled on the 1th of August and I leave Thailand tomorrow for 2 days and would like to come back on a regular tourist visa. I'm a German citizen and usually we just have to fill out a form on the plane to get a 30 day visa for Thailand.

Do you think I will have a problem when I come back that for example my old visa is still valid but I don't have a re-entry permit?

I'm worried that they might not allow me to come back to Thailand.

You were on an extension of stay so your original visa was used to get that and is now out of the picture. Without a re entry permit your extension of stay will have ended when you departed Thailand so a return on either a tourist visa (obtained from a Consulate outside Thailand) or 30 day entry without visa should not be a problem. You seem to be within the 7 days allowed for departure so all should be ok. I have never worked here so not sure of what is normally signed and not but do not believe you will have any trouble. If anyone knows of any pitfalls please advise.

If you had originally had a multi entry visa issued by a Consulate that use before date has not expired your could return on that as a new 90 day entry.

Thanks a lot lopburi.

I had a 1 year business visa (type :o with multiple entry that was originally valid until next November. But when I got my work permit they told me that this visa doesn't matter anymore. Sunbelt takes care of canceling my work permit. I will give them a call tomorrow morning.

If your actual VISA is still valid you should be able to return and get 90 days stay :o

Visas are not connected to work permits, only extensions are.

Sunbelt, please confirm or deny :D

freitag1, I suspect that you may be confusing some things, for example “multiple-entry non-B visa” (issued by a Thai consulate, outside Thailand) with “multiple-entry re-entry permit” (issued by an Immigration office, inside Thailand)

It is, of course, also possible that

– in November 2005 you received a multiple-entry non-B visa, valid for an unlimited number of entries until November 2006

– after entering Thailand you received a work permit

– after receiving your work permit you applied for and received an extension of stay

In a situation like yours it would be helpful if you could post copies of the relevant stamps in your passport, but as Sunbelt were handling your work permit you are doing the right thing by calling them tomorrow. No doubt, they have a copy of the relevant pages of your passport on file and can tell you exactly what the situation is in your particular case. Everybody else here on this forum is limited to guessing, but you need more than advice based on a guess.
