the OP asked - "Economic Necessity or Hidden Bias" They are most certainly not an economic necessity - not sure what the mean by a "hidden" ias.....I think there used too be a widely held opinion amongst politicians and other authorities that foreigners were "rich and could afford it". -

Certainly have. Obtaining any visa from places such as Savannakhet and Vientiane consulates ended end of 2024. Now visas for Thailand are obtained via e-Visa platform.- 1

137 pounds a week, that's a fortune. After a working lifetime of paying NI contributions, I've been on 101 pounds a week since 2009 (I don't get serps). Fortunately, I do have a modest works pension. Due to the many millions of pounds the government chooses to throw at the illegals every single day - hotels, houses, food, clothing, mobile phones, medical treatment, driving lessons, VIP tours around football stadiums etc I reckon there's less than a minuscule chance of the policy on expat frozen pensions ever changing.
