CAT internet down in Korat

Featured Replies

Hi, my CAT internet connection has been down for 48 hours. Anyone else experiencing problems?

My CAT internet went down on friday - when it came back it was very slow. I rang CAT, their technician said a submarine cable was damaged and it would be fixed on 12 December. I don't know if this is just BS or true. No other ISP's seems to have a problem. On testmt.net I am only getting 2% of normal CAT speed! (10mb line).

Offshore sites like BBC news very slow (30+ seconds to load page). I don't know if they have a genuine fault or its just BS, but nobody else seems to have a problem.

It is BS.

There ain't one submarine cable to route traffic.

And my True Online which heavily depends on Cat works just fine.

I guess they have some internal problem and they are blaming it on other factors again.

I'm staying with friends 100 Km outside of Korat and using my CAT 3G dongle ( my CAT ) the service seems to have gone down some time Friday and has been on / off / . To day its patchy . I rang the CAT help line and was told that the CAT system was having problems in all of Thailand but only certain numbers may be affected and no idea when a fix would be available

Any one else having CAT 3G problems in both the Korat area and in other provinces

Hi, A tip for anyone stuck with no CAT internet access. I bought a week of Ais internet use-69bt. Then I used the phone as a wifi hotspot. For me in rural central Thailand it is more reliable and quicker than CAT anyway - and at 276bt per month a much better bet.

Good luck

They told me the main server in BKK was down.

On a lighter note, one also told me I needed to pay my internet bill which wasn't due for another 3 days.

They dont have enough $$ to repair ? laugh.png

Their billing has become strict. I used to pay every 3months and now if you don't make payment on due date, they will just cut you off.

This is a everyday tale of life for us here in Thailand. Nothing works 100%, 100% of the time. I long since gave up complaining when my internet went down, the only person who got increasing upset, was me.

So my advise is; none of them are any better than the other, none of them will work as advertised, none of them will work all the time. If possible use two, my experience having both 3BB &TOT is that they both have their issues, but 'thankfully' they don't seem to align their 'cycles'
