Is it possible to google using google Australia here? Anyone have experience with ebay Thailand?

Featured Replies

I notice when I search automatically comes up Google Thailand and seems no way of changing it.

The return info all seems to be Thai specific too with no way of changing or specifying results from

a certain region. Is this something that is controlled here?

Anyone use ebay Thailand? I'm guessing most of it is in Thai language

I can load it:

https://www.google.com.au/

I can invoke the Australian news site:

http://news.google.com.au/news?hl=en&pz=1&cf=all&ned=au&q&js=0

Both sites without being logged in to Google

Must be something with the settings on your PC or browser.

Do you know all the settings and have checked them?

If you create a Google account and login, you can control your preference.

I have no experience with Ebay.

If I load

http://export.ebay.co.th/

I can select English and will be directed to:

http://sea.ebay.com/

(South East Asian version?)

It's to do with Geo Location, or more specifically GeoIP - the IP address you submit the request from is in Thailand, so Google will serve you the Thai version of it's site (This is how my Global load balancers at work operate). Best suggestion I can offer is you use something like Hola Unblocked (a favourite video tool for getting local content) and selecting Australia as your exit node.

Better this thread be moved to the Internet & Tech forum - I'm sure someone will pick this up.

All the above suggestions good. As for eBay Thailand. Yep its in English. Works fine.

On PC , I like Firefox.

Thanks guys. Awesome information. Hola particularly. Everything sorted thanks

Just goggle "Goggle Australia" and save it to your favourites or desktop works .

He could also make https://www.google.com.au/ his home page in his browser.

Or using Explorer or Firefox (and probably the other browsers which I have less experience of) creating a 'favourite' icon once you have opened your home nation version. I don't think Thai servers overrule the link from the icon, they don't on my PC anyway.

Just goggle "Goggle Australia" and save it to your favourites or desktop works .

I would NOT recommend this.

Try using Tunnelbear. A delightful Virtual Private Network (VPN) tool which allows you to appear as if you were browsing from... well, from anyplace from which you choose to deploy your tunnel bear.

I've tried Tunnelbear just a few times, so far, from my tablet PC, and I'm not sure which I enjoy more: The fact that I can magically appear to be browsing from a foreign country, or the adorable interface animation of the wee brown bear digging a tunnel in a world map from the country where I currently am to the country where I wish to be surfing from.

I do not work for Tunnelbear. I'm just suffering from a mild to moderate case of wholmlahnde eenseecurité, and I like having the little bear run block for me.

One problem with tunnel bear. Messed all my Outlook and Microsoft up as it detected me in different areas

I reside in Thailand. I'm writing this from Isaan. My Google is automatically Google Australia. I have to specify Thailand if I want to search for a Thai site or product.

Cheers..... Mal.
