Mother, daughter injured in shelf collapse at Homeworks Phuket

anything made here breaks or falls over, they have no clue, condos collapsing, drivers going over low walls on freeways and now shelving, maybe the gravity here is stronger than any other parts of the world

Quote made by a former Thai Minister:

"It's really not necessary for Thai to wear helmets when driving motorbikes, as Thai have thicker skulls to protect them, unlike other people"

If the guy's assertion is right it explains why there is less space for the brain

Nilly as good as another - 'the polar ice caps are thousands of km way, ice cap melt / sea level rise will never affect Thailand'

How big was the fan?

translate,,, "today a huge display of heavy paint cans collapsed and injured a 35 year old mother and her daughter, the accident is believed to be have caused by shoddy workmanship in the construction on the shelves"

thats better.

"and overloading" ??

Racks not bolted to floor. Forklifts lowered on any tier to deposit pallets, with downward fork pressure being applied to shelf beams before being eased back up. Forklifts bumping or nudging into shelving. Shelf pins weakening under constant pressure from former mentioned, in addition to loads which exceed manufacturers specifications, etc. etc. ad nausea.

One is beggared!

I was in a Supermarket in Bangkok when there was an almighty noise. The shelving had collapsed and there was food all over the floor.Luckily,no one was hurt. It seems to me the problem was the shelves were stacked far too high and not evenly. So be warned, when you enter one of these places look up and see if the shelves are stacked firmly and they look safe.It might save your life.
