Greek Tourist in dramatic cliff-face rescue at Pattaya Island

cliff-2.jpg

PATTAYA: -- A Royal Thai Navy Seahawk Rescue Helicopter was scrambled to Larn Island, 4kms off the coast of Pattaya, on Tuesday afternoon, to assist a Greek tourist who was stuck half-way up a 400 meter cliff-face.

Mr. Bouras Theodoras aged 37, decided to attempt to climb the 400 meter high cliff located on Samaer Beach but when he reached half-way up the cliff he could go no further and he could also not safely climb down the cliff.

Rescue Services were called but quickly ascertained it was too dangerous to attempt a rescue so decided to contact a Royal Thai Navy Rescue Helicopter who arrived and plucked Mr. Theodoras from the cliff using a winch lowered down from the hovering Helicopter in a dangerous rescue.

All that is needed here is the man pointing to the cliff in accusation.

Dumb boy.

At least he should pay the helicopter cost ...

(I'm jealous, cause this man has used a Seahawk:)

Costas!!! what are you doing this time?cheesy.gif

What they didn't even give the guy a chance to jump for another suicide theory opportunity?

It's all Greek to me.....what can you say apart from well done to the RTN......little bit of badly needed good publicity for Thailand

Make the idiot pay for ALL the costs for his rescue, Helicopter, Manpower and everything else.

Fool. Give him a bill and some jail time for being incredibly stupid and endagering the lives of others. Well done RTN.

I know that in France these rescues are 100% free.

I have often wondered what Costas looked like. You're not bad, old boy!!!

Better use the violin under her balcony to impress the lady ...

Reading the stupid answers some of the posters have written.

No only the helicopter he should pay the whole rescue costs.

Exactly what I thoughtcheesy.gif too much ouzo?

Is'nt that where the ''Naturist Beach'' is ????

What a Nob!

Not completely true : rules are not the same in sea or in mountain, and often the rescued person or his insurance has something to pay ( but not everything )

this man on the picture is stupid , it's the sort of thing I don't understand : to be unable to assess the risks

helicopter is very expensive, I hope this " tarzan" will pay something

I'm from the UK where rescue costs are covered by the rescue services. I'd be surprised if Thailand was any different.

Would you expect rescue costs to be paid by the person being rescued in your home country?

If nothing else - seemingly a good quick response & life saved.....lucky guy.....

Probably be awhile before he does anything that stupid again.....maybe.....

That's 200 meters up at half way - not small...if he'd made it then what? Jungle? Climb back down? Spend the night? Call Costas?

Wait till they hit him with the bill for that lol

More like a 40 metre high cliff. There is nothing 400 metres high anywhere near there. Makes him out to be as much of a wimp as a prat.

I was going to say ...... 400 metre cliff on Koh Larn?

That makes it almost as high as the Rock Of Gibraltar.

Saw this on the news this morning. Couldn't have been any funnier.

I climbed mount Olympus before...

but I was drunk.

Do not ask me how it happened, but halfway up Mount Olympus, lost my footing.

Slipped in Grease and fell in Turkey....so to speak.

lol (I know it's Greece.)

You're quite right. It's my typing mistake. I meant to say 'aren't'. Thanks for correcting me.

He was just searching for the Elgin marbles whistling.gif

What a Nob!

My words exactly lol

Now we know why the Greek economy is in trouble. Its not too hard to figure out with exemplary dudes like this

He is pissed off that he got rescued. His visa run got exploited.
