Thaicom secures financing for Thaicom 8 satellite project

BANGKOK: -- Thai satellite operator Thaicom has signed the syndicated loan for Thaicom 8 satellite project with the Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn Bank.

Thaicom 8 is scheduled for launch to the orbit in the first half of 2016. Thaicom 8 will support Thailand's broadcasting industry and provide capacity to power HDTV services. The satellite will also allow Thaicom to meet the ultra-HD demands for Thailand and the international market.

The international market being parts of Laos and Myanmar? No other country will be interested in that Thaicom 8 satellite.

Can a satellite let the Daily Mail get through? cheesy.gif

I suppose that means even more codswallop on the TV, only in high definition.

The geographic coverage at the Earth's surface can be quite large and cover much more of that part of the world then just Laos or Myanmar. Several countries might be interested in leasing some satellite transponder time
