BANGKOK: -- A truck driver took to the internet to complain Saturday after he was fined for wearing hideous and apparently illegal shoes behind the wheel.

After Sorapong Butsatorn posted photos of the shoes for which he was fined during a stop by Sriracha police Thursday for violations including his poor choice in footwear, traffic police have come out to defend the story and confirm that, yes, commercial truck drivers must wear proper shoes.

Sorapong was fined THB2,000 for illegally tinted windows, missing transport documents and “inappropriate attire."

For this to become a priority, I assume all other crime must have been solved and further infractions prevented. Great news - Utopia has been achieved at last. (albeit with sandals....)

Crocs - The footwear of someone who has completely given up on life..

What's wrong with Crocs? Comfortable, inexpensive, convenient, easy to clean and readily available in 45. Joan Rivers is dead.

Do you think he might have been treated differently if he had been wearing a "modest skirt"?

Oh come on guys........next time they stop this guy.....he'd probably be fined for not wearing crocs and not having his cabine sufficiently dark-filmed........and otherwise his seatbelt is grey and not black and maybe he doesn't have 8 cup-holders but just 4 or maybe even the truck has square wheels.

They always find something freakin' and if the truck-driver had paid up THB 100 as what they're supposed to do, he wouldn't be fined.

I had thought that it might be a safety issue. Until i read the rest of the post and realised that, yes indeed. It is a fashion issue.

Well they were ugly. Not my style. Maybe he should wear high heels next time.

Missing transport documents ?

Did he actually have any to go ' missing ' ?

The missing documents were probably the red and pink ones with a picture of HM the K.
