NOTICE: Automatic deletion of PM's older than 2 years

Our PM (personal message) server which stores over 1.2 million PM's dating back to 2002 will be under maintenance from tomorrow December 23, 2014 and over the Christmas and New Years holidays.

The system will purge (delete) all PM's older than 2 years.

Please Login and go here http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?app=members&module=messaging

and save any PM's older than 2 years that you want to keep locally on your PC or mobile device.

PLEASE NOTE: Removed PM's are completely purged and can not be retrieved once gone.

After the maintenance is done we hope that the sluggish PM system will be fast and snappy again tongue.png

During the maintenance period the PM functionality will not be effected.

Thanks for your understanding!

Copy and paste is the way to go.

'2 years', is that from the commencement of the PM or from the date of the last entry?

I believe it is the last entry. Not sure exactly how the script is written. Better be safe than sorry, so save anything important!

Thanks George. Also maybe the

Option, bottom right of the PM, works well.

I hope I'm misunderstanding, but do you expect us to go through individual messages and copy/paste them one by one? And if so, why so little notice of the start of the purge?

We have experienced database issues with the large PM database, so we need to clean up the database before new year. Try to clean up the oldest ones at least.

Thanks.

Wow,

you are really attached to PM's from 2002?...how quaint.

If you haven't read and understood a PM from 2 years ago, it cannot be THAT important. A bit like folk keeping emails from years ago, or foolishly, keeping txt messages on their phone. Once you've read and understood it, delete it.

I will not be the only one thinking it, but i may be the only one who has the balls to say it. What the crap in hell is a ''PM''? Personal messenger? Prime Minister?

Whoops just saw the personal messenger. So can someone please explain it little better for me? Whats it all about.

Don't worry, be happy - seems like you have never used it (Personal Messenger) and therefore don't need to worry about how to keep a more than 2 years old message...wink.png

For info: At top panel you will see your UserName, click og select "Personal Messenger" to see/send a personal message from/to other users - keeping the mouse (pointer) over a username will display an option (Send message) for sending a PM to that user...smile.png
