Having a big party on Christmas day all the local ladies from my wife's factory coming. I got some cool Christmas presents. I don't like to talk to the locals about money but it's OK if I tell you guys. I got a cost of living raise. Not much but it was nice to get the letter before Christmas. Dollar is doing OK and the extra pension is nice to see every month.

Earlier in the year I bought a Samsung big screen TV that was on sale at Tesco Lotus for about the same price as the ones I looked at on Amazon and Lazada. The sound was OK but nothing to write home about. On my mall walks I began to notice sound bars. These bar things that one hooks up to a TV. Sony had some for 30,000 baht. My gosh that's as much as a motor scooter. Using the Sony as my benchmark I began to look at others for less money. I decided on a Samsung one with a wireless woofer that came with it for under 10,000 baht. Its a small bar that sits on the bottom of your TV and you can place the sub woofer anywhere in the room. It has a number of small speakers in the bar and big bass in the sub woofer.

I took it home and hooked it up no problems and the sound was good. It worked for my TV or cell phone or computer with blue tooth or HdmI. I could also connect a flash drive full of songs to a USB connection and it would play all day.

So far so good. Then I read the instructions.

It said the sound bar had a 3d sound setting for music and movies. I found that on the remote and turned it on. Wow much better depth. I also found the different sound equalizer settings for voice and sports and movies and so on... Really cool.

You can probably tell I'm no audiophile but I'm hearing stuff in movies that I never heard before and the albums I get off of U Tube sound pretty good as does the radio satellite channels.

I've recorded a flash drive of Christmas songs in Thai for my upcoming party. Also I've hooked up a cell phone aux connection so the girls can use blue tooth or a regular connection to play music from their mobile phones.

I never liked Christmas in the West and one of the reasons I moved to Thailand was to escape it. Now after a decade here I'm getting back into it. I must admit the girls in the Santa suits help.

Merry Christmas everyone.
