i,m sure some body can help me with this prob , my mate came to thailand on 29/12/14 and returns to u.k

on 3/3/15 is his only visa option to go into laos ( he,s stopping near me in udon thani ) at the end of his visa

do a turnaround come back into thailand with another 30 day visa on arrival , then pay the few days overstay

when he gets to the airport to go home ??? thanks for any other ideas .

He does not have a Visa on Arrival.

He can get a 30 day extension from Immigration in Udon. 1,900 Baht.

After that he should get 7 days extra from Immigration 1,900 Baht.

He has a visa exempt entry not a visa on arrival. A visa on arrival is only for 15 days and costs 1000 baht.

If he is from the UK he can make a border crossing for another 30 day entry.

Or he can get a 30 day extension at immigration for a fee of 1900 baht.

I suggest he apply for a 7 extension, pay 1900 baht and be given 7 days leave instead of going on overstay.

just to let people know at udon thani immigration they only let my mate extend his visa 1 time for 30 days at 1900 baht .

he went again today and was refused an extra 7 day and was told to go to laos for visa before it runs out tomorrow .

did they take his money

no they didn,t , they just said either go to laos today or tomorrow or leave thailand by tomorrow night ,

he took his TGF with him so i know it wasn,t lost in translation .

so it looks like a trip to the border.

Not aimed at the OP in person but....

this is a good case of getting the correct visa to best cover the trip planned, before leaving your home country, for the sake of £25 for a tourist visa, a lot of messing about would have been avoided. I think the 30 day allowed extension on a visa exempt entry is a big cause of this travel without planning culture.

no steve your quite correct , who in there right mind books a 64 day trip to thailand without look at the visa options first , i did try to tell him when he was here in september to get a visa while still in u.k , but fell on deaf ears .

but i will say that when he got his first 30 day extenshion from udon they said come back when its finnished and we,ll give you another 7 days for 1900 bt , but today they refused him , lucky he went back a day early so can go laos tomorrow .
