If we get rid of all the girls, tourism will increase! Is that the attitude? Take a walk along Beach Road in Pattaya, the girls usually do no harm (ok, some do but that's the same the world over) and they have no other way to make a living for themselves and their families. Actually it's quite good entertainment to just watch the girls "working" for customers. How many millions of baht is this industry worth to Thailand every year? And how many of these girls (and their families) are now going hungry and/or unable to pay their rent due to lack of tourist customers. Has the General made provision for them? Or does he not care?

Forget about employment statistics its the definition of employment here that is the issue. From one of the dailies: Suppose someone working in a bank

or some office 40/hrs/week loses the job and returns to the family small farm. If that person works just one hour /week they are considered "employed'

In their 20's most of them are sole supporters of at least 2 children and often their parents. These ladies as well as the few that dont have to support their families can easily make 60,000 month and up.
