I don't know & actually don't care if my recent blog on how apalling the response time was for 191 when a villa was on fire in our village Chaikhao Mountain Home ,Moo Banbofai,Hua Hin Soi 6 .To repeat around midnight I was woken to screams of "Fire! Fire !" I arrived at the villa on the opposite side of our soi to see a gathering of Thai & Farnag onlookers with about 10 Police all doin nothing except shouting on their mob phones....There were about 7 other people trying to actually put the raging fire out using buckets so I joined the water queue to help as best I could ..someone also found & used the garden hose..around 30 mins later the Fire engine & staff arrived all dishevelled, yawning, a right motley crew ..only was in full fighting gear ..pathetic...if there had been a strong wind the whole village could have been on fire before these clowns arrived ! I gave the Police chief there & all he Firemen a piece of my mind about how many people have to die before you get your act together ...they all just looked at the floorshamefacedly....

To the point then...it was therefore amazing to read in this month's Hua Hin/Cha Am Today free magazine that one of the top Policemen in Petchburi province [sorry forgot name ] also tried to call 191 several times at night & early morning only to get what most of us get ....no answer ......instead of doing nothing this guy has a photo of him in the 191 emergency call centre with newly trained staff [who hoefully can also speak English!] & more of them plus as I had previusly complained they have finally installed a new telecomms software system that openly & transparently records & monitors call response times [now stated as 4 secs!] & also more importantly how long it takes from call receipt to arrival on site . This is real progress if they adhere to & react to the new rules of engagement.

So for once a hearty Bravo ! to the Policeman concerned!
