Honda crfm250

Yes it make sense of using the same 300cc engine on all 3 models, production will be cheaper.

I fell sorry for OP but okay you got it now and as long you are happy with it, then all is good.

Now the big question is; when will the 300 off-roader be for sale?

Think Honda has it bad? What about Kawasaki?

Z250.........parallel twin (62.0 mm × 41.2 mm)

Ninja 300..parallel twin (62.0 mm × 49 mm)

KLX250....single (72.0 x 61.2 mm)

The KLX250 engine is used in their D-Tracker and Ninja 250SL bikes also. I don't know if there's various states of tune or not.

Isn't Kawa replacing the Z250 parallel with a Z300?

That seems the sensible thing to do, it doesn't make a lot of sense to keep making that 250 twin just for the Z250.

Apparently you can order the Z250SL at 118,000 baht, the Z250 at 151,500, or Z300 at 172,000.

You'd think the Z250 would be out real quick like. Its price is too high (doesn't split the price difference between the 250SL and 300 even though it does split the HP difference), it doesn't have ABS, and it's one more engine to worry about, even if it's just a different crank/rods.

It does look like fun. Will it run on the faster roads okay, or are you on the shoulder with the little guys?

Come to think of it, being a newbie and all, at what bike size/speed do you graduate to your own lane here? Ever? I'm used to "controlling my space", USA style, but I'm not at all sure that that will play well here.

This is a medium size machine, but does have a road presence,it certainly doesn't look scooter.
I always hold my own on the road,as in positioning, not on the hard shoulder.
Speed wise quick off the mark, will sit at 120kmph,top probably 140,( with a sprocket change )there is a lot more top end.The best part is the pick up when joining traffic,50 up to a 100 plus is effortless.
Six speed box light clutch action, good around town or open road.

I am enjoying a crfm myself and considered to change the sprockets as well for a bit more end speeds. Do you know where to get rear sprockets with 1 tooth down and front sprockets with 1 tooth up that will fit the wheel?

Sorry folks.

I wouldn't of posted had I known it was being discontinued.

Its strange it had such a short run.

I believe it was only released last year.

2012 it was released as the CRF-L followed by the M

I can imagine that it's being discontinued in Thailand. Thai's simply can't sit on it, they won't get their feet on the ground. You need to be at least 180cm to enjoy sitting on it!

Joma.

I live in Phitsanulok.

The sprocket change for me would not be a problem.

There are quite a few off road enthusiasts locally.

With the resulting specialist workshops.

Check your local area,or check with your Honda dealer.

Joma.

Another thought.

It may be worth checking if the sprockets from the cb models are compatible.

Wasn't there someone on this board who had his mechanic suggest cutting a couple of teeth out of a sprocket and making it egg shaped?

yes right, I looked at the cbr 250 already, sprocket mounting/ screw sequence looks different ..... but I will ask the dealer, if they will know because it's not a common bike around here ....

This is the 13t sprocket. It should be easy enough to order as it's made in Thailand and the manufacturer Asahi is one of the largest produces of sprockets. JT Sprockets JTF1321.13 13T Steel Front Sprocket

Thanks for the link - will try that .... assume that crf m and crf l have the same sprockets

The father of a student at my school rides one. I see him in the parking lot most mornings, and usually say hello. Nice looking bike, the black with gold rims looks great. Now that you mention it, though, he's definitely above-average height for a Thai guy!

This might be an interesting read : http://www.rickramsey.net/CRF250Lmods.htm

Great attachment.

That bloke knows what he wants.

Found the following set-up which appeals to me for touring - problem is just the vibrations the single cylinder produces at the tail end - lost a screw at the exhaust/ frame once and didn't realize it.

The rear sprockets in the link are for off road, which means have more tooth, but we need less tooth. Still checking on that with the dealer when I have time. The way the front sprocket looks like it might be difficult to add one tooth. Therefore 1 or 2 tooth minus at the rear which might have to go with a slight modification of the chain as well.

Hansgruber. There is a Honda 2015 national sales meeting Wednesday so any new models tend to get announced to dealers then. If you want a Crf 250 then I know former / current TV sponsor Sumet have them in stock. https://m.facebook.com/hondasumetcycle?_rdr

No. I'll be waiting now it's being replaced.

Spontaneous purchase by me and my friend has been averted. We just wanted to go churn some dirt today.

It's still showing in the 2015 line-up so you might have a bit of a wait...

I agree.

Maybe I will have to order new plastics.

Then I will be updated, for cheap.

The red is pretty much the same as before.

Thanks for the pictures.

I will check on price of new plastic on my next service, probably 2 weeks.

Might be able to just buy the decals which will be even cheaper than the plastics.

OP,

I'm after a CRF250L for the back roads in Issan (right outside the garden gate). I have read that changing the exhaust to an FMF Powerbomb, adding an EJK fuel controller, doing intake/snorkel and air box mods and changing the front sprocket to a 13 tooth really makes a World of difference to the bike. This comes in fairly cheap to do. I do want a better rear shock on it for reasons of obesity, but this is quite a lot of money for some brands.

There's loads of stuff on YouTube about it.

you know there is a 56 page thread on these bikes here.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/525289-honda-crf-250l/?fromsearch=1

Apparently a 2012 thread.

This year is 2015.

yep that's right a thread from when the bike was released full of owners reports and comments right up to last year.. ..you can bet any info you need is in there.

not suggesting anything you are free to do what you like, but generally there is a specific thread for every bike model full off owners experiences and modifications.

Merely pointing that out to you as many of the long time posters will not bother replying to your new thread as they are aware all the questions have been asked and answered on the dedicated thread for said bike...
