Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of trying to get a rebuild kit for the Harley CV carburetor?

I'm based in Phuket.

Thanks a lot.

Wow, thanks for the fast reply.

I'm a relative noob in Thailand and haven't used Ebay here.

Do you mean the US Ebay or is there a site specifically for Thailand?

Are there delivery problems, in your experience.

Thanks.

Yup ^^^, for anything light and easily posted Ebay is your friend.

Get it sent USPS airmail and it will likely get through with no duty payable :)

Thank you all for your advice. As you can see below I've done what you recommended!

"REBUILD KIT FOR KEIHIN CV CARB CARBURETOR ON HARLEY DAVIDSON 1988 - 2006

Estimated delivery: Wed. Jan. 21 - Wed. Jan. 28"

Ebay is cool!

Are you doing the rebuild yourself? If no then the next job is finding a Mechanic who can do it.. good Luck!

I once had a Honda 4 cylinder engine rebuilt. Mechanic said no problem he do before! So I got ALL the parts including a new Honda Headgasket... guess what! He made his own as the one he took off didn't look the same (it was newer technology but designed for the bike) bike blew up again within a few days.. beware!

@Casualbiker

The carburetor rebuild is fully described in video on YouTube so I can't get it wrong.

Yeah, I know what you're saying... I prefer to do the work myself where possible.

:o)

I had a shock from Ricor delivered by USPS - 30% duty on USD500+ cost! Ouch. Including the VAT, that is 6,000 Baht! Good job they accepted the 40% discounted price for year-end sale and did not assign the standard USD 850 sale price before calculating duty and VAT on that!

Hello Everyone and thanks for the advice.

My carb kit has arrived and I'm rebuilding it today.

Yay!

Looking forward to tuning this bastard as I've had bad backfires, probably from a weak mixture cos of my open pipes.

The carb is Harley Keihin but the bike is a chopper based on a Honda 700cc motor (bored out from 650 and with higher compression ratio) and frame downtube from same............everything else is custom..........proudly displayed in photo below.

All the best and keep the rubber side down!
