Is it possible and are there any other rights i may have with a one year temp.stay "o"visa ( married to a Thai. )

Is the new english driving licence o.k. to use or do i have to get a Thai one ?

You can buy a vehicle in your name,but you will need the verification of your address.

And you will have to get a Thai drivers license and for that you will also need the verification of address plus other papers such as a certificate of health from a doctor.

and you need a Non-Immigrant visa to get a driver's license.

unless as i did you get IN WRITING a letter from the insurer that they accept a UK drivers license.

Hi;

Anyone with a non-immigrant visa can buy a car or motorbike.

Once you have that you go to immigration and tell them you want to buy a car or. they make you fill out a form and pay anywhere from 200- to 500 baht and that's it., (once I even got it free)

As far as license they have never asked to see my thai licnse but it sure does help if your stopped for no seatbelt,

Did they limit the period of time in that memorandum ?

If you mean the letter from immigration,

I asked for 2 copies which they stamped for me, (i just brought another honda dream last week) and they said they are good for 1 month.

The insurance company may accept it, but the police will not.

The only vaild icences here are International or Thai!!

PS I have had comprehensive insurance for years and never been asked for my licence
