Canadian in Chiang mai on tourist visa... entered Thailand Nov.1/2014 exp Dec.30/2014

extension granted until Jan.29/2015... Flight back home this Tuesday, Jan.20/2015

Had a successful elective surgery and Dr. could schedule another if able to extend my stay for another month and a half total...

I'm a senior, first time visiting and don't want to get too excited, if not possible... am i dreaming?

Make an overnight trip to Vientiane in Laos - and you can get a brand new tourist visa. Single entry would get you the same as what you had, but they will also issue a double entry visa that could extend your stay up to 6 months in total.

Since you are Canadian you could make a border run to Mai Sai to leave and re-enter to get a 30 day visa exempt entry that can be extended for 30 days.

Or you could get a single entry tourist visa at a nearby embassy or consulate.
