What was going on in Pattaya around 7-9 pm?

Sukhumvit was partly closed

Pattaya Klaang was about to be closed down

So was Beach Road

Traffic from Soi Khao Noi was diverted onto the bypass

Some hi-so figure visiting Soi 7?

Yes there was some very high VIP person(s) here yesterday evening.

We were on the scooter going to Jomtien on 3rd road and was waiting at the central road inter section for a while and every body was told firmly to switch our engines off, both cars and scooters. Then the convoy came blasting by going towards 2nd road, app 10 police cars, 2 ambulances, 1 big police bike and off-course the VIP cars.

I saw the same police cars parked outside a resort on north Pattaya road near Lotus when we drove home again.

Could be some from the Royal Family?

I noticed yesterday afternoon, about 3:00, that there was a bunch of senior police officers accompanied by soldiers standing around on Jomtien Beach Road near Soi 5 and 7. A friend said they'd been there at 11:00 AM when he'd walked past. Strange to have then just standing around all day if the bigwig wasn't coming until the evening.
