August 17, 200619 yr Hi I know this has been covered many times before but I can't seem to track it down. I am just about to order new motorcy and would like to register it in my own name. Now, I think I need a letter confirming my Thai address, have own home but house book is in boss lady's name. How do I go about getting this paperwork? I suspect that it might have to be issued by UK embassy in Bangkok, if so any contact names, e-mail addresses would be appreciated or do I need to go in person? Thanks in advance TBWG
August 17, 200619 yr you are correct, you do need a proof of address and it needs to be issued either by the Embassy, or by the immigration police. When i asked at immigration, they were clueless, and so i ended up spending 1600 THB at the embassy for it. You need to go in person to get it, but its only an overnight thing. From memory, they dont even need anything to back up your claim where you live. You just tell them an address, and they write up a letter strating that.
August 17, 200619 yr They will do the paper work where you buy the bike, well they do here in Phuket, i had my passport and a namecard with my address, that was it, i have 2 bikes and a car ind my own name, all 3 was very easy....... by the way i am on tourist visa

It now means we single guys don't have to put our trust in thais. In the past its precarious having expensive vehicles in near strangers names! I've bought vehicles before but even with non. imm 12 months I've been rejected from the government motor dept. 'You falang. Cannot register.' Sounds like this place you bought the vehs from is seriously well connected! So where in Phuket did you get them to do this? Was it at Patong beach?

Thanks in advance TBWG Hi TBWG, If you don’t want the hassle or expense of going to the British Embassy in Bangkok you can go the you’re local immigration office (I think it has to be the same one you do you’re 90 day report) and they will give you a free letter as proof of you’re address Take that along with you’re passport and best to take some signed copies of the Boss ladies blue house book and her id card, but in reality all you need is the letter and passport but best to go prepared for all possibility’s.

August 20, 200619 yr If you are married and have a house you can get a yellow "Tambien Baan" (same as your wifes blue one) in your own name as proof of address. It was easy to get, do a search around here for tambien baan. This negates the neeed for letters from embassies and is handy for all sorts of other things (eg license and bank account).
