Snake I D

Featured Replies

Any idea what kind this is ?post-39514-14216721718308_thumb.jpg

I'm no expert, but the markings resemble a (young) Burmese Python.

I can't think of a Thailand inhabiting venomous snake with those colours and markings. I could be completely wrong though, and will be interested to hear from the experts.

Where and when was it photographed?

Malayan Racer I think

It's a Malayan Racer, also sometimes known as a Radiated Rat snake, non venomous and does not strike the same as the angry Copperhead racer.

Yes it's a racer. Harmless. Let it be.

Looks a bit light to be a Malayan Racer which tend to be darker than the Copperheads.

Have a care as Copperhead racers are super aggressive, can strike unprovoked, fast, long range and repeatedly inflicting messy bites though non ven......it looks like this one has already flattened out in aggressive warning too which would suggest a Copperhead.

Dangerous or not, I think it is prudent (at the very least) to: 1) consider all snakes in S.E. Asia as dangerous, and 2) avoid them; do not attempt to harm or kill them. Unless you are an expert, you can easily mistake a venemous snake for a non-venemous snake.
