Nails in Yingluck's coffin?

Thai at heart you should change your name to Red at heart.

Now you see Wilson, this is where you have effetively lost the arguement by resorting to ad hominem attacks.

If you like the idea that a military junta appointed group with over 50% military men are going to lay judgement on a former prime minister for loss incurred by the public purse, thats fine. It is just it is an absolutely primal hypocrisy that you would probably never stand for in your own country, but seem to think represents some kind of vindication in your adopted country.

This way of exacting judgement will solve absolutely NOTHING and will serve only to add resolve to the PTP political arm and personal supporters for the next round of political infighting that will start in about a year when this part of the political circus ends.

People saying, it has to start somewhere, hooray, lets set off as we mean to go on huh? With bogus judgements from politically aligned crony committees. now thats a solution.

Your wrong it won't start again its over, the next election will be different. This isn't like the last coup, this time the army has had enough and will let the people pick who they really want as a leader and not through corruption through reform and transparency. Tomorrow you will see the end of one corrupt families grip on power and see the beginning of a new healthy political system through peoples reform. This will be the foundation stone, the pillar that future Thai generations will look back on and say this was the year we created true democracy, a Thai democracy free from corruption and free from abuse from powerful families.

He and his ilk never had an argument. They lack the knowledge, analytical ability and in some cases (obviously) the intelligence to see a rounded picture of events in its context. As in this instance we just get sloppy bar talk. There is of course a powerful case to be made against the deposed government but there seem to be none on the forum able to deploy the necessary intellectual firepower.Once again one is puzzled that foreigners who judging by their command of English are from plebeian stock in their homelands inexplicably seem to line up with a corrupted set of ruling elites in Thailand.

But for the grown ups out there The Guardian has a useful piece.

Well pitched piece there from the Guardian.

Nicely sums it all up.

Let the thai, fascists demonstrate what they are all about to the sceptical democratic nations, let them put the nails in their own coffin, then we'll be back.

Like it , good piece.

It must be a wonderful feeling to KNOW that you are right and everybody else is wrong.

As a 70 year old grown up I managed to read the article all on my own though I must admit that my lips did move over some of the words. I did find that the reporter, Kate Hodal,is actually based in SEA and sometimes in Bangkok. She used to be freelance but now works for the Guardian as their SEA correspondent.

From an interview of Kate by Lu-Hai Liang here. https://www.journalism.co.uk/news/journalist-q-a-from-freelancer-to-se-asia-correspondent/s2/a553906/

She seems to have got her information from Pavin Chachavalpongpun, a Thai political analyst at Japan’s University of Kyoto, but not from anyone in Thailand though I may be wrong there.

quote "Yingluck herself has described the timing of the proceedings as “weird” given that she is no longer in office." It has taken over 2 years to get this far and though she IS no longer in office what she is charged with took place when she was in office.

quote from Pavin Chachavalpongpun “Thaksin has proven that he can pick anyone to be in his shoes,” he said. “Without Yingluck, so what? This will not be the end of the Shinawatras.”

What Pavin failed to mention is that of the 2 governments controlled by him and including his own TRT have ended in the parties being dissolved. The TRT and the PPP for election fraud and the PTP is so deeply mired in their own problems they will probably call it a day and like the phoenix arising from the fire and the ashes will probably try to come back under another name.

So it seems that the Shinawatra family and especially Thaksin seem to have learned nothing over the last 14 years.

Thaksin and his family have more money than they can spend in 50 lifetimes. Why can't they leave Thailand alone to recover and become a better country without them.

Seems the nails are definitely in Yingluck's coffin

A) The army has been ordered to quell any protest that might arise from the case's verdict being read out.

B) The Office of the Attorney-General are holding a press conference tomorrow morning making a statement of the possible courts verdict and punishment given.

C) Most news reports about the case acknowledges the fact that up to 10 years in prison could be handed out.

D) Pollsters have been out especially in Isaan guaging the fall out if a prison sentence was handed out.
