I have been to Thailand before but never with a 60 day double entry Visa.

My 1st 60 days come up mid February.

I have not done a border run before.

I need to do one before the 60 days come up and then another before the 90 days come up, correct. Can both be via land, not air ?

Do I need to check in with immigration before each border run?

I would like to ultimately get an extension for at least 6 months after the 120 come up. Is that possible?

You have two entries of 60 days and each entry can be extended by 30 days at immigration. An extension costs 1,900 baht.

After 60 days, or 90 days if you go for an extension, you must leave the country and can return for another 60 days (+ 30). You can leave and re-enter by land or air.

You must keep in mind the expiry date of the VISA itself. All entries must be made before or on that day the latest.

After your second entry of 60+30 days you will have to leave the country and can apply for a new double tourist visa in Laos (Vientiane or Savanakhet).

You can get a 30 day extension at Immigration. 1,900 Baht.

You then have to leave the country by any means you want and return to get your second 60 days.

This can also be extended at Immigration.

Make sure the Visa is still valid when making the second entry.

Let me see if I get this right, the last date for entry is April 13, 2015......I got the Visa in Oct 14, 2014. Have been here since Dec 16, 2014.

So I can go to immigration before my 60 days comes up, (Feb 16), pay 1,900 baht for a 30 day extension.

Then before 90 days comes up I go to immigration and pay another 1,900 bath, then leave the country and get another 60 day extension.

I'm not sure I have this right.

Thanks for the input

Yes, and after the second entry on which you get 60 days you can get another extension of 30 days for 1,900 baht.

In Vientiane if is apply in the morning of day 1 and get back the next work day. Savanakhet now has same day service.

OK, sorry for all the questions but I am still not 100% clear.

Do I have to leave the country and reenter once or twice ?

The response above says I can choose to do so after 60 or 90 days and do the 1st renewal at immigration w/o leaving the country,

When I got to Laos for renewal of double entry tourist VISA this has nothing to do with border runs and is a separate trip, correct?

Thanks again.

Leave and re enter once.

Just make sure your Visa is still valid when making your last entry.

After your first 30 day extension you leave the country and return to get you second 60 days.

You then visit immigration for another 30 day extension

No, no need to go to Immigration after your first 60+30 days, you just leave and re-enter Thailand to activate the second 60 day entry on your tourist visa (not an extension). As mentioned, you can also extend those 60 days with a further 30 days by visiting Immigration (for a 1,900 baht fee).

Hey thanks for all the answers guys.

When you know a topic very well sometimes what is obvious to you while describing it is not so obvious to the person asking the question.

Thanks for breaking it down for me. Everyones input has been very helpful.

"Then before 90 days comes up I go to immigration and pay another 1,900 bath, then leave the country and get another 60 day extension."

No, towards the end of your initial 60 day entry you go to Immigrations in Thailand and apply for a 30 day extension for Baht 1900.

Towards the end of those 30 days you must exit Thailand and return to get the second 60 days. Don't go to an immigration office. Go to a border or fly out. You can return immediately.

And once again near the end of those 60 days you could apply at immigrations for a 30 day extension for Baht 1900.

If the "use by" date printed on the visa sticker shows 13 April, you must make your border crossing for the second entry before then. Once you return on the second entry, the visa will be "used" and it doesn't matter when if it expires. The important dates to watch will be on the handstamped entry you got when making the second entry and the stamp you get when making the 30 day extension. Those will show how long you have permission to stay in Thailand before you must leave.
