MOI points bright future for Thai industries

BANGKOK, 24 January 2015 (NNT) – The Ministry of Industry is positive on the industrial sector this year as private companies have signaled confidence in expanding their businesses, said the Industry Minister.

The Minister of Industry Chakramon Phasukavanich has revealed factory statistics of May-December 2014, signifying that the ministry has issued 3,245 factory establishment licenses and 750 factory expansion licenses with a 456.963 billion baht investment value and up to 149,883 new employments.

He said that 1,661 licensed recipients out of the total license granted have already started their businesses, generating 90,090 employments worth 214.36 billion baht.

From this figure, the Industry Minister is confident that the investments will help drive the Thai economy forward, while he is positive that there will be 2,154 more factories nationwide in a time frame of 1-2 months with an investment value of 242.603 billion baht.

He has said that this statistic reflects the private sector's confidence of the business expansion in Thailand, signaling a bright future of Thai industries.

The Ministry of Industry has issued 180 more factory licenses this year, a much better improvement from last year, said the Industry Minister.

Most new factories are located in Pathum Thani, numbering at 309 factories, followed by Samut Prakarn at 287 factories, including the production of foods, metal products, automobiles, plant products, wood processing, and wood products.

just read an article in the other news paper that Thailand is on the verge of a recession.

Yes, apparently a poll of local economists painted a weak outlook unlike all the govt departments.

Do I see local economists facing AA ( attitude adjustment ) ?

The future is bright, so let all sing the following song together:

Some things in life are bad.
They can really make you mad.
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle,
Don't grumble. Give a whistle.
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.

Always look on the light side of life.

If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle. That's the thing.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.

(Come on!)

Always look on the right side of life,

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.

Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...

Always look on the bright side of death,

Just before you draw your terminal breath.

Life's a piece of shit,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke. It's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.

Always look on the right side of life.

(Come on, Brian! Cheer up!)

Always look on the bright side of life!

Always look on the bright side of life!

(Worse things happen at sea, you know!)

Always look on the bright side of life!

(I mean, what you got to lose? You know, you come from nothing, you're going back to nothing. What have you lost? Nothing!)

Always look on the bright side of life!

(Nothing will come from nothing. You know what they say?)

Always look on the bright side of life!

With the exception of autos, most factories appear to be geared for manufacturing of products for domestic sale. About 70% of Thailand's GDP has been in exports, largely autos, rubber, and foods like rice, seafood, pork, and chicken. The trend for exports is negative to no growth with rubber and farm prices down, and stagnant global GDP growth. China's economy is predicted for further economic contraction. Russia's economy is in limbo. The USA economy is a bright spot for imports but the Junta may already have burned its economic bridges with that country in favor of closer trade with China and Russia (and I thought gambling was illegal in Thailand).

The "bright" future for Thailand in 2015 will depend more on its ability to absorb most of its factory production domestically. If GDP growth for 2015 is less than 2%, the country will be in recession and Thai industries will be in trouble. Current government projection is 4% GDP growth but lower than for the ASEAN-5 as a whole. For Thailand to achieve an average GDP growth rate of 4% with no growth from exports, the domestic economy will alone have to expand 12%. The Junta would do better to buy lottery tickets.
