4jasmin
recently, I posted on "ask a lawyer" this question http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/794480-what-characteristics-define-a-good-lawyer-in-thailand/ I am very disappointed by the very "low level" answer from siam firm inter laws : ...go by recommendations, past experience and your own personal judgment.... I had expected something more diligent ... go by recommendation? ...so many people had bad experiences with their lawyers in thailand, hardly nobody can recommend any lawyer past experience? ..same as aboth mentioned - bad expereinces from nearly any person, I have asked - either thais or foreigners own judgement? ....that is really the last one you should go for by choosing a lawyer - and not only in thailand now - can you define the characteristics of a good lawyer in thailand? WhamBam
One who does what he says he will do and who works for you. An honest appraisal of your case / complaint without charging a fee. One who does not chase your money. Yes, I used one like that twice.

nithisa78
I've a great lawyer. Ask, I'll refer you. I selected him based on normal criteria. Would I trust them alone with my family. Our previous attorney was killed in a tragic accident and never thought in my life remaining that I would meet John. Honest, truthful and trustworthy. Thinks about people, not money. AZBill
As a US lawyer with 25 years experience as a partner with a large national firm and then owning my own firm for 15 years and dealing with many Thai lawyers and law firms over the years, I can tell you their attention to detail is lacking in many instances.
sdanielmcev
What type of lawyer are you looking for? Criminal? Tax? Contract? As my grandpappy used to say; if you need a lawyer, it's probably too late.

Gecko123
Ask your attorney to summarize in writing the statutes and case law which support your case. If they are unwilling or unable to do this, look for another attorney.
