brit1984
I see carms that your mate OGY is saying Stefen Freund is coming back, done very well coaching in Germany apparently. Yes it seems he has done a very good job and if so the combination of him and Sherwood is very interesting and they know each other very well. My first thought last month was that at least we have got rid of the strikers coach....still no idea what it was he did...or was supposed to do! I think he is responsible for rolling the ball in-front of the strikers during shooting practice...

I'm not saying our coach was good or bad, or that I know exactly what they teach but surely there's a role for specialist coach's in football. On a slightly different topic Would think that a bright bloke like Alex Inglethorpe would thrive under the new regime.

carmine
Nice to see Chelseas russian mob money is weighing in to deny us, one of their principal rivals of signing Oscar from Internacional. This so called FFP really is the mother of all jokes. Since it appears now likely we will sign Adebayor the even more likely departure of Modric does leave a gap. Does anyone know the status of Huddlestones fitness? Looks like we'll be going all out for Mouthinho now.
rijit
No announcement that I could find on twitter as such that he's doing pre season, just a few people, wishing him well for pre season, suggesting he is, But as far as I can tell no way of actually knowing he's in pre season or not, it could well be a pretty standard thing to say to a footballer, more positive than negative but as I said nothing concrete, only ledley kings knees!!!! rijit
Moutinho apparently signing this week but i can't see it myself, well not at least until Rat face goes ! Went 2 google modric to see exactly how old he was , thinking maybe as AVB tried to sign him 4 chelsea and he's totally avbs type of player, he might get hin 2 stay ect ect and this came up http://blogs.bettor.com/Luka-Modric-tops-Real-Madrids-wish-list-a169733 not sure exactly how accurate it is, But if true cant really blame Modric if he leaves, prob double his wages, no small thing in itself, and year in year out champions league football. 40 mil plus and I wont be moaning 2 much. But saying that it becomes comes nearly, well within 15% ish a straight financial swop for Muitinho, 4 me makes the Portuguese feller at 40 mil euros buy out clause look not particulary good value for money, but hey ho we will see. Abrak
Sounds like Oscar has gone to Chelsea. Not a big surprise given that he has Joorabchian as an 'agent'. (Would have put this in the Chelsea thread but it appears to have gone missing as it is 'sub judice' pending the Terry outcome.)

No idea why we are dragging our feet re Naughton...5m seems to me a fair price for a player who is never going to get a game for us.

Ah well if you guys had liked Moutinho that much you could have sold Modric last year for 40m and bought Moutinho on his release clause for 18m. Still if you actually agree with Porto over who pays for the price of the sandwiches for lunch before Saturday it will be something of an achievement. My point is Porto is a total nightmare to deal with. They dont even own 100% of Moutinho in any case. His 'agent' (or 'super-agent') is Pini Zahavi. So I cant believe it will be resolved over tea and biscuits. As far as Borini goes I thought Rodgers sounded pretty confident he had tapped him up sufficiently at his press conference. Last year a point needed to be made and it was. This season we will get nearly that again for Modric and as i said before i trust Levy more than you that we'll get it right with Moutinho.....just like we did with that snip of a buy from Iceland. Some Liverpool fans are starting to sound bitter. Something i don't don't like to see. I'm saddened by this recent developement.

Actually you missed my point entirely (and I actually believe that Levy is about the best contract negotiator in the Premiership) Smokie said he thought you would have the Moutinho deal wrapped up by the weekend. I very much doubted it because it is with Porto. Now Porto has numerous South American players on their team (partly due to the language) but mostly due to the fact that (1) they have loose labor laws and can come and acquire work visas and later acquire Shengen visas but more importantly (2) Porto works with players whose economic rights are owned by other individuals (most typically tied to Zahavi and Joorabchian). This helps Porto acquire the players at low cost (as they typically dont have to finance the whole deal and the players push them through at a low price) and also not have to pay the players much as the players are tied into their capital value (which is why Porto has a lower salary base than Wigan). Moutinho is Portuguese but his economic rights are partly owned by Zahavi. Moving to the PL complicates this because it is 'illegal' so has to be 'circumvented'. Now I actually think that you might find that AVB will prove quite helpful in dealing with the incredibly complicated tangled web that Porto weaves and unlocking some good deals there or maybe Levy can but I bet it wont happen quickly (in any case it is only mid July). Didn't i tell you the deal was done 3 days ago smokes!!! i am very pleased to hear the overiding priority is one more striker and a major signing at that. Problem is so much of this transfer merry go round seems to hang on the specifics of the Modric deal. We do have a concrete offer on the table from Madrid but does it match Levy's estimation. You can forget the paper talk about Hugo Lloris for the moment btw....were nowhere near doing a deal.
