limit to visa extensions at immigration

Featured Replies

Ok, this is my first post and I am sorry for my ignorance on the topic or if this information has been answered on another thread. However, I have been searching for several hours without finding an answer to my particular situation. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and respond. So here is my dilemma....

On October 28, 2014 I arrived in Bangkok from the USA, on a visa exemption. After the initial 30 days I extended at Thai immigration for another 30 days. This allowed me to stay until the end of December 2014. After that I took a flight to Phnom Penh and stayed there for about a week over New Years. I flew back into Don Muang on Jan 2nd, 2015 and got another 30 day visa exemption on arrival. My question is, since I flew out of Thailand and flew back is it possible to go again to Thai immigration and get another extension for 30 days, or do I have to leave the country as I've already extended at immigration once before? Keep in mind the extension was technically done last year. Thanks again to anyone who responds with relevant information.

There is no written limit on the extensions.

Since you left the country for a few days instead of just going out and back in again to get another entry you should be able to get another extension without a problem.

I would not count on being able to do a 3rd one though.

Ok thank you, I will try immigration tomorrow and post the results should anyone else have this same quandary.

Well spent quite a bit of time at immigration yesterday, but they gave me an additional 30 days...no questions asked. I was advised the night before by the attendent on the help line (1111) that it wouldn't be a problem...but after the second time they might start to question why I don't apply for another type of visa. Thanks again for your help and hopefully this post will help someone else in the future.
